Someone else mentioned Anya on a thread and I have been considering this myself. Please tell me what you like.don't like about the name?

For my child (if girl, due next year), I want strong, easy to pronounce and spell, used in different countries, independent, powerful woman. And - Girl power!

Does this name say that? Also very interested in meanings and it means Grace, apparently. TIA

I like it, a girl I knew at school was called Anya and was lovely. That being said I think it’s very common in some countries and it doesn’t scream strong and powerful to me, rather it seems quiet and unassuming.

It's fine, but Anna sounds more confident.

I like it.

Makes me think of Buffy

I associate it positively with Anya Taylor-Joy, who seems like the ultimate cool girl, as well as coming across utterly delightful.

It doesn't scream "independent, powerful woman" to me, but I don't think any names do, those associations come from personality, but it doesn't feel wet or drab like certain names do. Unlike PP I find Anna bland comparatively.

I love it! It would be on my list if I were having any more babies.

I also don’t know any, which is nice as it doesn’t feel as popular as names like Ava/Evie/Isla/Amelia/Olivia/Ella. Which are everywhere.

I love Anya, but it feels more dated than Anna. I'm personally not a fan of Anna, but love Anne and Anya.

I think it’s alright.

I prefer Annis, Anest (Welsh, I think) or Annalise

It's a great name.

My friend’s mother, who was German, was called Anya and she was a very strong woman. I think it possesses the qualities you want from a girls’ name

I like the name Anya. Sounds strong to me. I think it's easily readable and translatable as well
