I like it and it's not spelled like the doll.

MIL is Cynthia, but always known as Cindy.

Kids these days have no idea about Sindy dolls, so any Cindy in their class won't be judged on that (and any parents that do would hopefully keep any snide thoughts to themselves!). Whenever MIL gets called Cynthia, all I think of is Angelica from the Rugrats, but it's never affected how I think of her.

I’d go Lucinda or Cynthia personally

i always thought cindy was a knock off barbie

it does sound a bit ditsy too. But I know one in her 40s and she pulled it off, she didn’t seem vapid!

It's a gorgeous name actually. But it's a bit dated....maybe it needs a revival

Oneandabean · 22/12/2022 23:52

I think it sounds a bit like a strippers name. Not a fan

Quite sweet but I can't get Cindy Lou Who out of my head. Not sure if children are still into the Grinch but I think so. I often do the poem as a choral piece at school.

OK as a nickname, but lacks substance as a real name.

I’d hate to have to introduce myself as Cindy.

Makes me simultaneously think of Cindy-Lou Who, one of the characters from Orange Is the New Black, and the family cat.

Love the name Lucinda!
