Hi, I’m currently 11+3 & have googled every single baby name & haven’t came across any new ones in a while. I’m really picky, so far I have picked Arabella for a girl & Zephyr for a boy. I’d like to hear some suggestions I might not have stumbled across & some fresh ideas. I like unusual names(boho/earthy/astrology) I’ll write some names I like that were on my list. Nina, evangeline, bianca, Lola, Kendal. I do not like any other boys names at the minute apart from Zephyr.

I'm not sure if the op is really looking for an unusual, "earthy" or "nature" name.

Arabella is a traditionally posh girl's name and quite traditional. I put it with Mirabel, Cressida, Lucinda, Henrietta etc, rather than unusual/Classical posh: Drusilla, Hermione, Persephone, Artemis, Olympia, etc.

Marcipex · 11/12/2022 16:43

Arabella and Poppy are both pretty but far from unusual. Both are really common where I live.

Zephyr is too out there for me. I thought it was a girls name. I suppose Zeph is okay though. Zefram is cool and a less feminine vibe.

@CaptBuckyOHare i like Twyla but again I don’t know if I like it more than Arabella.

@RosesAndHellebores Arabella is just one name I like I was giving people an indication of what type of names I typically like so they could give me suggestions based on that & Arabella has been on a list when I’ve googled boho names. Zephyr also comes up when I type in earthy boys names & I’ve never met or heard of any arabellas where I am.

@marcipex they’re not common where I live. They’re just names I like that I had picked I just wanted unusual ideas

My little girl is Halley (like Halle/ Hallie) after the comet 💫

Marcipex · 11/12/2022 17:30

@Rose1111 fair enough, but I don’t think anyone else will know that either.

Rose1111 · 11/12/2022 17:55

@Marcipex I specifically put in my post I’d like unusual suggestions

Faraday or Cillian for a boy.

Jaime or Delaney for a girl. A few years ago I would have said Delilah but apparently it’s quite popular now.

Rose1111 · 11/12/2022 18:37

I like cillian

There’s a Bianca, Lola and Nina in my son’s class so they can’t all be that unusual. They’re all lovely though! It’s so hard if you don’t know many kids yet to know what’s popular in real life or not.

Rose1111 · 11/12/2022 18:47

@MassiveSalad22 I was just asking for unusual suggestions I know they’re not the rarest names

Yes they can. Even if just one baby is names Nina, she'll be in someone's class!

I spose you’re right. I’d say most children are the only one with their name in their year or even school, though. To have someone with the same name as you in your class is not the norm. I think people focus on that a disproportionate amount.

Do you think so? Most classes I’ve taught have Sophia J and Sophia T, and Theo H, A, & M. Lots of kids share their name within their class, it’s not unusual at all. And I think it’s a bizarre statement to insist that ‘most children’ are the only one in their school. That’s just so off the mark in my experience.

Don’t think you have to worry about Zephyr being Zephyr Thompson right enough, but Arabella could easily become one of two or three Bellas.

Marcipex · 11/12/2022 23:25

Soleil for a girl, or Endellion, or Lowenna which is Cornish and I think means ‘a happy child’.

Lowen or Oakley are strong names.

There are 3 Harrys, 2 Theos and 3 Ellies in one of our classes.!

ReadtheReviews · 12/12/2022 08:28

Boys- Asher, Rory, Talon, River, Rex, Jesse, Harlen, Hart,

Girls- Gaia, Wren, Abra, Dahlia, Cordelia and my 7 year old just called her doll Rocky which I thought was fab!

Rose1111 · 12/12/2022 10:43

Thanks for all your help I think I’ve came to the conclusion I still only like the names zephyr & Arabella lol not got a middle name for zephyr but would be Arabella poppy for a girl. I just don’t seem to like any names more than those atm.

Does Arabella vieve Chisholm sound silly? What about Everly vieve Chisholm?
