Could you comment on Bree for a girl, please? Just Bree, as a full name.

Does it sound contemporary enough or a bit dated? Husband and I seem to always go for names that are a bit past the current fashion, but we don't really mind so much. I'm just a bit curious because its sound fits better into the late 90s or early 00s, I guess, when Brittany, Brianna, Brooke, Bryony and Bethany were popular.

Others on our list are Angel, Annabelle (decided Annabell won't work), Sophie, Chloe, Jenna, Jolie but might take Jolie off due to being too associated with the actress (thanks for suggesting Joely but I don't really like how it looks).

"Brígh. f. The original meaning of this namé is probably 'high, noble'... Was borne by thirteen saints.

In modern Irish brígh means "power strength, vigour, force, efficacy, virtue: substance, essence, meaning.

Don’t let her read Lord of the Rings.

Will always be a Narnian talking horse for me.

Same for me!!!!

Dreamingof3 · 03/12/2022 11:46

I actually really like it. No confusion on pronunciation, easy to spell, and only 15 babies named Bree last year!

We have it on our middle name list for our next girl!

nocoolnamesleft · 03/12/2022 12:07

It's either a Narnian talking horse, or a village near the Shire.

SilverOtter · 03/12/2022 12:08

I think it's quite pretty.

SaltyLemons · 03/12/2022 12:08

I know a Brea

Luredbyapomegranate · 03/12/2022 12:15

My main thought is cheese and I think it would be for most people, so I wouldn’t

Annabel, Sophie and Chloe are all nice

Jenna is to 80s dated, Angel is too weird (and the pressure!), Jolie is also too weird (and again The Pressure)

Angelica, Josephine nn Josie, or Jennifer are all ok, but prefer the options above

DDS best friend is Bree. Not something I personally would pick but it’s easy to spell and pronounce.

Incoming nickname = Cheesy. Not great....
