Anneliese or Annabel?

Which one would you pick and why?

We are 100% sure on the spelling of Annabel, so don't consider any other spellings.

With Anneliese we'd also consider Annalise (the most popular version in the UK) and Annelise.

Annabel

Annaliese (pref this spelling but others also fine). It's elegant and will grow up well with her. I always think of Annabel as a name for a young child, maybe partly because Baby Annabel is such an immediate reference for me when i hear it.

Annalise is beautiful. I absolutely love it and is unusual without being unheard of or hard to pronounce. Annabelle is a bit bland

Anneliese, gorgeous name. Also can have many variations depending on future personality and preferences etc- Anne, Anna, Liese, Lisa etc.

Annabel, sorry but it just reminds me still of Baby Annabel!

Annabel

annaliese is a beautiful name and less common than annabel. personally love the spelling annalise, but each to their own!

Purplemagnolias · 21/12/2022 22:29

I'd pronounce Annalise as Ana-lyse

Pemba · 22/12/2022 11:27

I really like both, but Anneliese slightly more, and it's more unusual.

If Anneliese ends up as your choice, much prefer this spelling. It's a German/Dutch name, and that's how it's spelled there.

The Italian version - Annalisa- is also pretty.

'Annaliese' suggested by some posters looks wrong, somehow - like a mixture of two different languages.

Annabel. We called our little girl Anna but considered Annabel/Annabelle but we couldn’t agree on the spelling. I preferred Annabel as it seems less fussy.
