Help me feel more positive about naming a boy!

I think I'm having another boy, all will be confirmed soon. I've had a shortlist of girl's names picked out for a few years, since I had my DS. I was getting very excited about potentially using one... now I don't think I will be.

I feel so much less inspired about boy's names. The only name we can agree on is Asher, which I do like a lot but not sure it's 'the one'. Other names I like but DH has vetoed are Caspian and Albion. I also like Judah, Emrys and Caspar. DH likes Felix but I don't love it.

Any suggestions? We like names that are unusual but not unheard of. I like whimsical, storybook sorts of names.

I actually had two girls but could have written your post if I’d found out it had been a boy. There is a character in a book in reading currently called Kay, that would be the name if I ever had a boy…

I have 4 boys and every time I had the same girl name lined up - I do feel a bit sad about not having used it so I understand where you’re coming from! But why do you think it’s a boy? It sounds like it could still be a girl?

Love Asher. I also like Ash and Ashton if you wanted a variation. Astor is quite similar and if you like A names there are a lot of variations on Alex which are quite modern sounding, lots of scope for nicknames (Alex, Xander, Lex)

My other faves are Drew, Cole, Tristan(Tris), Rowan and Caspar(Cass) is lovely. I have a soft spot for Kit too(perhaps Christopher as a formal name?). My maverick choice would be Archer, but I am not sure what it could be shortened to.

Whilst there are lots of nice girls names and variety, I think finding a nice or unusual boys name that suits them is a lot of fun.

I had a scan and am about 95% sure I saw a penis, it wasn't the umbilical cord because that's actually what she was trying to get an image of at the time and was struggling. Immediately after, the sonographer said 'he' and then changed back to 'it' which confirmed it. I'll find out for sure in a month or so but I'd be blown away if it was a girl.

We have very similar taste in names 😊 Love Rowan but feel it's maybe a bit popular. Caspar was our back up name for DS1 and I do still love it, I'm just not sure if I've over thought it at this point 😬

I haven't actually met a Rowan in real life yet. A Robin, yes which I also quite like. Maybe it is area dependent but a lot of the babies I know have classic or older sounding names like Lenny, Henry, George. Just throwing it out there I think Ash would also make a.lovely middle name so if you are not quite set you could be half way there haha.
I know what you mean about back up names, I'm possibly going to use a back up name for due baby but doesn't seem quite right because we toyed with it for our first. Probably will anyway but I do know what you mean.

Tbf, I thought our scan was one sex and it was the other so I was very wrong lol. However our midwife did accurately let slip with accident accurate pronouns so yes, you could be right. Think you are going to just have to wait.

Sods law is you will find the perfect baby name for a boy and be wrong haha.
Oh another of my maverick choices is Finnian. I didn't go for it because Finley is insanely popular but think it is a nice one.

My husband liked Oakley which he would feel is a similar vein, but I wasn't mad on, but might be more up your street?

I would say your list is very similar to mine if I’d have had a boy. I had my little girl on Friday and the baby boy in the next bay was called Aubrey. I thought it was gorgeous and have just spotted the first reply oh here has listed it so I vote for that!
