I have 3 weeks to go... When we found out it was a boy I knew I'd have the crazy name battles. Our DD has a V beautiful but V unusual Latin name. Trying to push his crazy names to middle names.
His boy suggestions are:
Aurelian
Hector
Titus
Lysander
Tiberius
Gaius
Uriel

My suggestions with his ideas have been either
Duncan (family name) and Titus as a middle name or Reuben (DH thinks too popular) and Uriel as a middle name. Thoughts?

Register him on your own & choose a normal name for the poor baby!

Gummibär · 14/11/2022 20:07

I really like Aurelian and Lysander!

SophiaLarsen · 14/11/2022 20:09

Hector is ok out of those but not awesome.

How about:
Wilfred
Rudyard
Siegfried
Euan
Alexander
Alistair

dream28 · 14/11/2022 20:09

I like Lysander and think it's quite usable.

Kikikik · 14/11/2022 20:10

I'm having a c section and so scared of him going to the registrar office hahaha.
I trusted him with DD as we were so decided.
We just can't agree on a normal first name.... He said I could possibly sway him to Reuben or Duncan as Duncan is a beloved family member.

Hector has an unfortunate meaning (to hector), unfortunately.

How about
Roman
Quentin
Vincent

Proamble · 14/11/2022 20:12

You both need to agree. We had a joint list we kept adding to and the other would either cross through or leave it on.

His list is above..... I can't agree to any of them as a first name. I don't mind crazy middle names though as how often are those used!

Hector is a lovely name, if rather an ill-fated character in Greek mythology

Maybe some slightly less wacky greek themed names:

Theodore/Theo
Gregory
Andreas
Alexis
Jerome

I know a toddler Tiberius and Lysander is the name 12yo DS tells me off for not giving him.

I think all listed together your DH's names are a bit overwhelming. On their own most of them are pretty usable.

Proamble · 14/11/2022 20:14

If you don’t like them, cross them all out. Same with him and yours.

BasiliskStare · 14/11/2022 20:17

@OP I like Hector , Vincent and what about Hugo. I also like Hunter but not classic Latin name

omnishambles · 14/11/2022 20:18

Can't believe marcus isn't on there.

Lysander was ruined for me by Jilly Cooper plus I hate the nn Lys or Zander. My daughter loves the name Lysander thought although she also wanted us to call him Wolf Blue haha

Dexter?

AdaColeman · 14/11/2022 20:31

Lysander is a super name, in fact I like all of your DH's list except Uriel which sounds like a kidney infection to me, (apologies to any Uriels out there).

Similar names you might consider are Horatio, Isambard, Ragnar.

StiggyZardust · 14/11/2022 20:31

I love Titus

Backtoblack1 · 14/11/2022 20:32

Rex?

I love Hugo as a name although a friend of mine bitterly curses his parents for saddling him with it!
I’m sure you’ve already thought of any and every possible name but here’s a couple more Classical ones to add to the pot:
Horace
Tarquin
Tybalt
Lucien
Marcus (already suggested by a PP and a fairly normal name in comparison!)
Ptolomy

Kikikik · 14/11/2022 20:34

All my friends will say they like his name's...... But all their children have top 100 names so I'm like there is liking a name and then actually giving it to a child.
