Please don't be too harsh in comments but which would you choose between Elliot Marshall and Max Marshall? (other choices being Jack, Ethan and Jude but more inclined to these two). Thanks!

Definitely Max Marshall! I love the alliteration.

I actually know a Max Marshall! He's a lovely wee boy and the name really suits him. I think it sounds great

Max!

IamnotwhouthinkIam · 08/11/2022 16:30

Max Marshall! If in doubt, always pick the alliterative option, I say. It makes an otherwise commonplace name (Max, Elliot, Jack, Ethan, Jude etc are all top 50/100 I think) more memorable imo.- it's the reason quite a few celebs as well as superheroes have alliterative names.

scottishnames · 08/11/2022 17:20

Max Marshall is great. Maxwell Marshall (or Macsen or Magnus, from which Maxwell is derived) would be very good also. Don't like Maximilian or Maxim, but that's just my personal preference and they are long-established names. Might be nice for him to have the choice when he grows older.

Eliott (or whatever spelling) is fine if that's a family surname. Otherwise, just why?

Enko · 08/11/2022 17:27

Max

I just don't like Elliot and always find a boy named that really irritating.. (also dislike Connor but I have met nice Connors so its not a cant take the dislike of the nname out)

GlassDeli · 08/11/2022 17:40

Elliot Max goes better with your surname IMHO

allypike · 08/11/2022 19:09

Elliot Jude Marshall sounds quite nice

DozyFox · 08/11/2022 19:15

If you were going for Maxim instead of Max then I'd definitely vote that! But otherwise, I vote Elliot.

I certainly wouldn't think Max Marshall was a ridiculous name though, so don't worry about that!

LulooLemon · 08/11/2022 20:01

Elliot

ShesThunderstorms · 08/11/2022 20:09

Elliot. But Jude from your overall choices.

PinkSox · 08/11/2022 20:10

Elliott

OliviaFlaversham · 08/11/2022 20:15

Jude or Elliot.

I don’t like the alliteration of Max Marshall. It sounds harsh.

IamnotwhouthinkIam · 08/11/2022 21:29

Oh, forgot to say -like a pp, I really love Maxim even more than Max but despite it's greater use abroad I think some people can't seem to get past the old lads mag thing here, so Max is probably "safer". Also the difference in syllables between Max and the surname breaks up the alliteration a bit more and gives a nicer rhythm in this case (Maximilian Marshall would also work well for that reason).

Elliot, Jude, Ethan etc just don't feel as classic to me as Max/Maxim . Jack is a lovely classic too, but I think (depending on area) you might run into a lot more of them if that matters.

Awwlookatmybabyspider · 08/11/2022 22:42

Elliot.

Smallonesaremorejuicy · 08/11/2022 22:46

I really like them all except Ethan ! That & Caleb are awful.

breadandroses93 · 08/11/2022 23:02

Elliot or Ethan. You may also like Nathan and Ellis.

I like Max with surname Marshall too!

Fivebeanchilli · 08/11/2022 23:07

I think Max Marshall sounds fine.

uncomfortablydumb53 · 08/11/2022 23:15

Elliot
