I love Cecily and Cedric! But all your names are lovely.

DuchessOfSausage · 05/11/2022 18:19

girls:
Beatrice - fine
Cecily - ok but not keen on the cess sound. Cess pit
Giselle - Jizz Elle
Cordelia - ok but a bit long
Charlotte - nice
Felicity - too long
Matilda - ok but a bit overused
Romilly - don't like it
Rosabel/Roselyne/Rosamund/Rosina
Laetitia - ok, but will get Letitia a lot
Bridget - like

boys:
Cedric - no. Eric or Cyril is ok though
Magnus - like
Roland - like
Percy - not sure
Frederick - Freddie is ok but it's a bit past its best
August - Au Gust or like the month? Too similar to Disgust
Clarence - no. Laurence is better
Rafferty - seems a bit downmarket

hippydyegirl · 05/11/2022 18:20

I like Matilda for a girl and Cedric for a boy

hippydyegirl · 05/11/2022 18:22

I actually just said to my husband can we have another boy so I can use that name. I once had a little spare EDF foam guy that came with the post and I named him Cedric. Had him for years until he broke

Bluedoritos · 05/11/2022 18:25

I like Cecily, Charlotte and Matilda for girls and Cedric, August and Rafferty for boys

Beatrice -ok
Cecily - no
Giselle - nice when pronounced correctly but likely not to be
Cordelia - honestly can't decide it I like it or not
Charlotte - beautiful
Matilda - no
Romilly - never heard of but it's nice
Rosabel etc - not keen on any of them but I love Rosealea which I know isnt on your list but is similar
Laetitia - no
Bridget - no

Boys sorry I dont like any of them though if I had to pick it would be Rafferty.

DuchessOfSausage · 05/11/2022 18:37

Rosabel/Roselyne/Rosamund/Rosina - of these Rosamund, but I prefer Rosalind. I don't like the others. Rosa is nice. Rosie is ok but popular.

AdaColeman · 05/11/2022 18:37

I like your girls list, Felicity Romilly and Laetitia are my favourites.
I'd avoid the Rose names as they have been so popular for many years. Personally, I wouldn't use Giselle or Cordelia as they are linked to such sad characters.

Magnus and Roland are my favourites from this list. I'm not at all keen on August which I think will date very quickly, and I'm not fond of Rafferty either.

MissyB1 · 05/11/2022 18:41

I love Cecily, Cordelia and Bridget. Of your boys names I only like Magnus I’m afraid.

Rafferty is far too popular at the moment. Rafe is much nicer in my opinion.

Yesthatismychildsigh · 05/11/2022 18:44

I like all apart from your last three boys names. And I think Rafferty (hideous) just doesn’t fit in with any of your other names. Completely different style.

Thisisnotmyname2 · 05/11/2022 20:49

Beatrice and Frederick get my vote as I like Bea and Freddie

Blowyourowntrumpet · 05/11/2022 20:53

Percy is slang for penis

Blowyourowntrumpet · 05/11/2022 20:55

If someone told me they had called their baby August, I'd assume it was a piss take

Mydoggosarethebest · 05/11/2022 20:56

Beatrice - LOVE
Cecily - like
Giselle - awful
Cordelia - like
Charlotte - meh
Felicity - meh
Matilda - meh
Romilly - love
Rosabel/Roselyne/Rosamund/Rosina-meh
Laetitia- terrible
Bridget - no

boys:
Cedric - LOVE
Magnus - LOVE
Roland - no
Percy - no
Frederick- meh
August - like
Clarence- no
Rafferty - meh

Beatrice, Cecily, Magnus and Cedric are all 10/10, I would use any of these in a heart beat!

Mumofgirls2017 · 05/11/2022 22:18

Matilda and Magnus are my favourites but nice lists. Also love Romilly, Giselle, Cedric, Frederick

Luredbyapomegranate · 05/11/2022 23:57

Beatrice - fine
Cecily - like it
Giselle - WHAT?! YOu cannot give your daughter a name starting Jiz. Seriously.

Cordelia - like it
Charlotte - lovely but so overused. So no
Felicity - like it, quite popular now
Matilda - been overdone.

Romilly - nah, wet and faddy.
Rosabel/Roselyne/Rosamund/Rosina - of those I quite like Rosamund, don’t like the rest. Prefer Rosanna, Rosaria - but there are too many Rose names around, I’d leave it
Laetitia - it’s ok
Bridget - like it

Cedric - wee bit much
Magnus - ok
Roland - ok, prefer Rollo
Percy NO percy pig
Frederick - no, done to death
August - prefer Augustus
Clarence - makes me think of sex offenders for some reason. Anyway, no.

Rafferty - dated nineties - Rafe or Raphael much nicer

Cuppasoupmonster · 05/11/2022 23:58

Yikes. Just don’t choose Percy whatever you do.

Theoldwoman · 05/11/2022 23:59

Charlotte and Frederick

Billslills · 06/11/2022 05:14

Cecily or Felicity. I also like Giselle but I feel like it belongs with an exoctic surname.

I really love Clarence (not heard that before) and Rafferty.

Smallonesaremorejuicy · 06/11/2022 05:16

Beatrice
Magnus

caz198917 · 06/11/2022 06:00

All the boys names are awful. Sounds like a class register of a private school and the girls names don't sound much better. Sorry want to be totally honest

In what country or area? Scotland, UK, US, Canada, Australia? or Wales, Ireland or somewhere else?

I like Charlotte, Matilda and Giselle from your girls list

And

Roland, Percy, Frederick and Rafferty from your boys list.

I'm sorry, I overreacted. That said, August is name of 19 century novelist who was of German, Czech and Slovak decedent and lived in Zagreb and that's why I love the name, because he's regarded as Croatian novelist. I'm born in Croatia.
