Gang names or those that racially stereotype???

Looking for help please!

My baby is due in a week and a half. I have got as far as a names shortlist. But some of the names get me wondering if they fit into some sort of specific racial zone, or even perhaps a gang zone.

This is a worry of mine, because I don't want my child to be pigeon hold in any way by having a particular name, or to risk being associated with bad circles. (rising gang crime is scary)

I live in Holland right now, but may move back to London some day. So I am a bit out of touch and want to make sure I make no mistakes.

Can I please have your feedback on the following names with regards to race/gangs of anything else I should be made aware of at all.

otis
dion
azul
silas
ezra

Thanks so much!

Loopy

I think you're going to struggle to get gang-related knowledge on Mumsnet tbh but I'd be happy to be proved wrong

sorry to be unhelpful but they're all lovely names if it makes you feel better

What do you mean by gang zone?
Whatever you call your child will have connotations. The UK is particularly alert to how names suggest a certain class. Not sure about gangs though.

They all sound like black names to me - not that that should worry you whether you're black or not! Possibly Silas & Ezra also Jewish names. I certainly wouldn't pass judgement on them because of that - people who know your child will associate the name with him/her as a person.

I used to hate the name Adam because it was the name of a vile bloke I knew. Then a good friend called her son Adam so now I associate the name with him.

I think all your names are unusual but not outlandish.
