Ok... so I know both are actually types of car! But putting that to one side for a moment(!) we're expecting DD2 any day now and we've finally narrowed down her name to...

Cleo Olivia
Or
Octavia Rose

Dd1's name is Romilly.

What do you think we should go for?

Any views welcome, good or bad x

No need to "balance them out". They're not out there (especially Cleo) and why have anything boring about your child's name just for the sake of it!

Love Octavia

Ellmau · 26/09/2022 21:08

Octavia - very classy.

Cleo sounds as though it's short for Cleopatra.

Octavia. One of my favourite names.

eleanorsmellstrop · 28/09/2022 14:45

Another vote for Cleo Octavia

eleanorsmellstrop · 28/09/2022 14:46

Or Octavia Cleo. I think I might actually prefer Octavia but I do love them both.

Hotpolarbear · 28/09/2022 20:19

I have a Cleo and she always gets nice comments on her name.
The only time it was an issue was year 1 at school a boy in year 6 used to call her cleopatra which she didn't like.

ChildrenOfTheQuorn · 29/09/2022 19:25

Agree with a previous poster; drop the filler middle name (Rose).

I have a Cleo
She loves her name

She should. It is a beautiful name. 😄

Octavia is one I've always liked and Cleo was on my shortlist so we may have similar taste. Out of the two, I think Octavia carries as much weight as Romilly. Cleo feels more throwaway and nicknamey, which technically, it is.
Other names I liked with a similar feel were Zelie, Delphi, Perdita (Dita) and Sabine.

SirSamVimesCityWatch · 30/09/2022 10:56

Cleo, I love that name. Short and unfussy but also feminine and awesome.

FayCarew · 30/09/2022 12:45

Cleo Olivia.
Rose is meh as a middle name. Olivia is overused as a first name but nice as a middle name

romdog · 30/09/2022 12:46

Thanks everyone! I really appreciate all your feedback and comments :) We're currently leaning towards Cleo although agree Octavia sounds more in keeping with Romilly. Might go for a more exciting name than Olivia for middle name.. Aurelia perhaps? Cleo Octavia is asking for trouble with the car associations I fear. Decisions decisions!

@romdog Aurelia is really beautiful and carries similar weight to her sister’s name Romilly - if you like it why not go with that for the first name?

Cleo to me sounds like a nn and so Chloé would be a better option as it’s similar sounding and Chloe Olivia would be a beautiful name. Rose is gorgeous but SO overused as a middle name.

Elfbeth · 01/10/2022 22:59

Cleo is a lovely name and makes for a great l sibling combo with Romilly.
I’d prefer Cleo Allegra to Cleo Aurelia
