I love the names George and Etta/Ettie for a girl and came across the name Georgette and I haven’t found any other threads about it. What sibling names would you pair it up with? And what would you she for middle names?

Georgette is what I call my dog when she is being demanding and fussy . ( Oliver & Company )

I know a wonderfully glamorous French Georgette who is in her 90s
I love the name

I find it retro-sounding, along with most other -ette names like Annette, Claudette and Paulette (Colette, for some reason, seems more timeless). There's nothing wrong with Georgette, but it isn't a name I would personally choose.

I also wonder how you feel about "George" or "Georgie" as nicknames because that's what people will probably use.

PatronSaintOfPotplants · 26/09/2022 16:25

I have no idea about the cultural references people have mentioned - so in the basis of the name alone, I like it :)

Runmybathforme · 26/09/2022 16:38

You do realise she'll be called George all her life ?

Coolcat1234 · 28/09/2022 17:07

@Runmybathforme I do quite like George as a nickname and also Etta

Georgetta

When I saw your post I immediately thought no don't do it and came on to say just that. However have been rolling it around and it's growing on me!

GroggyLegs · 28/09/2022 17:24

A clunky version of Georgia or Georgina.

Courgette.

Sorry OP, not keen (I like Etta though).

FriedasCarLoad · 28/09/2022 17:24

I went to school with a Georgette.

Pretty name, easy spelling and pronunciation, classic but unusual.

Fabric

NanooCov · 28/09/2022 20:34

I like it. She will be called Georgie or George for short so if you don't like these then don't consider it.

ancientgran · 28/09/2022 20:47

Another Georgette Heyer fan (although I read the books about 50 years ago, maybe it's time to reread them) so I like it.

I wonder if I would like them as much as I remember, maybe I should leave them as happy memories.

CryMeACucumber · 28/09/2022 20:49

It is, indeed, a fabric.

Imissmoominmama · 28/09/2022 20:51

My first thought was the fabric.

Not necessarily - I know 2 and one is always called Jet, the other only ever the full Georgette. Neither has ever been shortened to George

DorritLittle · 28/09/2022 21:01

I had a friend called Georgette at school. So I like it. (I am now wondering if she is @DramaAlpaca 's friend!)

I had never heard of Georgette fabric either...

puddingandsun · 28/09/2022 21:47

It's really lovely. Wouldn't have thought of courgette!
Although that brought to mind the name Colette which you might also like?

youtwoandme · 28/09/2022 21:52

Immediately Courgette came to mind.

bitchwitch · 28/09/2022 22:01

Jorja is a version of Jeorjia (

ShaneTwane · 28/09/2022 22:36

MissBattleaxe · 28/09/2022 22:43

I think it's a beautiful name!
