Thoughts on the name Verity?

Thoughts on the name Verity and possible middle names please? Thinking along the lines of Verity Belle or Verity Florence?

MIL name is Rose but such a filler MN & my mums is Louise so a bit tied there.

To me it's a proper mean girl name. Ive known two and they've both been awful bossy head girl types.

Lovely name. Prepare for it to be shortened to Vez and Vezza though…

If I had a daughter she would be Verity Joy, pretty much the one thing that makes me sad to not have a daughter is that I can’t use the name.

this reminds me of the Verity I knew at school whose dad actually bred ferrets.

I like Verity but I do think of it as being quite a sensible name for a person. I could see her with her nose buried in a book during the day then off to crochet club. It’s nice paired with Florence but as other posters have said, Verity Belle is a bit riverboat.

I have a Verity 🙂and she's not blond or bookish. It's always had positive reactions from others and I think it's a name that could take her anywhere. She does sometimes complain that it sounds too 'posh' now she's in her later teen years and wants to be cool, but overall she likes it. She gets nicknamed 'V' by her friends and the only silly name she gets called at school is 'Variety', definitely not 'Ferrety'. We sometimes call her Vezza though 😳

I love it and would have had it for dd but DH hated it. I don't like verity Belle though.

I know a verity and she is only ever Verity

I love it but am struggling to think of a middle name that goes. Depending on your surname, my thoughts are:

Verity Rae
Verity Seren

I know a teacher called Verity, I love the name. I think Verity Florence sounds beautiful.

The only Verity I met was nicknamed Veg. I liked both name and nickname.

Prim and proper 1950s prefect who's actually sneaking out the dormitory window at night to hook up with the gardener.

Agree with pp - Verity Belle or Verity Joy sounds like the name of a boat.

I think it’s an ugly name, like Gertrude, sorry.

I know a Verity who is very fabulous, unconventional and eccentric. I call her Veritas as she’s also very honest.

I do like Verity, but agree that Belle sounds wrong, but Verity Florence is lovely and far better than Belle. Although tbh who uses middle names?

Verity is a lovely name, and following it with any of the Belle/Rae/Mae/May/Mia type names feels wrong.

I love it - sophisticated but lively and strong (I don’t think it’s twee at all)

Of those two I’d go for Verity Florence - Belle is a bit faddy.

Love it. I know a pair of siblings one is called Verity & the other is Florence. Gorgeous names.

Love it. Unusual but not off the wall, still a proper name. I don't find it twee at all. I love the meaning, too.
