mynameisnotmichaelcaine · 15/09/2022 20:29

Love Emmy.

Moonface123 · 15/09/2022 20:29

l love Emmie, such a sweet name, and not over used.

StarlingsInTheRoof · 15/09/2022 20:35

How do you pronounce Emme? I find it hard to picture a middle aged Emmy. But then I feel the same about Masie, Daisy, Molly etc too, so think ee names just aren't my thing. They are popular names, so many people disagree with me.

Sally99 · 15/09/2022 20:40

Emmy sound like a shortening of another name. I'd give Emeline, Emily or Emma and then call her Emmy. When she's adult with a career, she may dislike have what sounds like a NN

Laurakiaora · 15/09/2022 20:43

It just sounds like ME to me, as in chronic fatigued syndrome.

TroublesComing32 · 15/09/2022 20:46

I think it’s lovely, I heard of one recently and remarked how much I liked the name x

LiveatCityHall · 15/09/2022 20:48

My son's name is shortened to Emmy. It suits him but is confusing when his auntie Emily is also shortened to Emmy 🤣🤦‍♀️

viques · 15/09/2022 20:49

Emmy sounds like a little house on the prairie name to me “ Emmy, you stop messin with the gopher traps and git yo self in here and shuck these corn dogs before your Pa unhobbles them there coyotes”

Snowiscold · 15/09/2022 21:11

Terrible. It’s a bland non-name. It’s OK if short for something. The Emmy I know (short for Emmeline) is now over 30, so it’s dated to call a child it now.

Luredbyapomegranate · 15/09/2022 21:28

As a nn I like it, but too cutesy as a full name on an adult

Can be short for Emerald as well as Emmeline/Emily/Emilia

This made me genuinely lol.
We have an Emilia but she doesn't want her name shortened Blush very stubborn small child. As a PP said, everyone thinks it's Amelia instead, so I'd like Emmy as a NN.

ServerSurfer · 15/09/2022 21:33

Love it!!!

Martinisarebetterdirty · 15/09/2022 21:38

People will spell it Emmie, also sounds like it’s shortened so she will spend her whole life being asked what her proper or full name is or what Emmy is short for.

I know a wonderful Emma who gets called Emmie, but is very much an Emma when she’s told off!

cariadlet · 15/09/2022 21:39

I only know one Emmie. She's always known as Emmie but ir's short for Emmeline - like Emmeline Pankhurst, the suffragette.

The Emmie I know is 20. I don't think it's a dated name because it's never been super popular so wouldn't be associated with any particular generation.

I've been a primary school teacher for 30 years and haven't come across any other Emmies or Emmelines or an Emme.

whatwouldAnnaDelveydo · 15/09/2022 21:46

Only if she has a brother called Oscar.

teaandtoastwithmarmite · 15/09/2022 22:21

I love it. It's my cats name but I do love it as a name

FunnysInLaJardin · 15/09/2022 22:26

Te only Emmie I know is male and his full name is Emile!

ellieboolou · 15/09/2022 23:51

Awful sorry

marblemad · 16/09/2022 02:16

Very cute love it, for longer versions you could have Emilia or Emilie

halfsiesonapotnoodle · 16/09/2022 03:26

Awful. Like M.E. Possibly tolerable as a nickname for Emerald.

Stripperyone · 16/09/2022 04:39

Emyra?
Emmalyn?

If just Emmy, people will assume It's shortened. To be fair, you could make it a middle name and she could go by it.

Upyouranty · 16/09/2022 05:48

We have an Emily who we all call Emi for short. She’s grown into a formidable woman and has recently started training to become a police detective
So clearly we love the name however you spell it.

jrt2022 · 16/09/2022 13:07

I don't like it. It's a bit nothing-ey. I'd assume it was a nickname.
