I live in Scotland and just had a baby boy and stuck with name.

I like both

Finn George Connelly
Alex George Connelly

I'm a bit worried lots of kids this year might be called Finn, but also wonder if Alex is too classic and not as interesting. I like that Finn has Scottish origins and like that Alex is a name that'll suit him at all ages. He really does suit both names.

Please help as he's 4 days old and I'm driving myself a bit mad with it

Alex!!

TenThousandSpoons · 30/08/2022 08:25

They are both lovely.
I would choose Alex.

MyNameIsNotMichele · 30/08/2022 08:26

To be honest I have never understood why anyone, never mind lots of people, like the name Finn. I think of town every time I hear it.

MyNameIsNotMichele · 30/08/2022 08:26

*fish

not town 🙄

SquigglePigs · 30/08/2022 08:30

I agree with a lot of the others that both work but I prefer Alex too. As you say, it suits all ages.

DuchessOfSausage · 30/08/2022 08:31

Alex, but Alexander on the BC

Alec is nice

LargeglassofRosePlease · 30/08/2022 08:38

Alexander all the way

DuchessOfSausage · 30/08/2022 09:00

I suggested Alec because Alex Conn.... sounds like Alec Scone...

Finn Conn... sounds a bit like Fink on...

AntiHop · 30/08/2022 09:09

Alexander, shortened to sandy 😍

VeridicalVagabond · 30/08/2022 11:23

I like both a lot but I think Alex rolls off the tongue better with the full name. Finn George just doesn't flow as well as Alex George

Lisajc1 · 30/08/2022 12:31

Thanks for all your help

Going for Alex Finn George Connelly

Never thought he'd need so many names, but here we are! Glad decision made.

My littlest boy has Alexander as a middle name. What about Finely Alexander?

allboysmum3 · 30/08/2022 12:38

FINLEY even

mintich · 30/08/2022 12:39

Alex!

mintich · 30/08/2022 12:39

Oh just saw your update. Great decision!

Luredbyapomegranate · 30/08/2022 13:43

I like Finn, but I do think it’s been done to death

I also like Alex and while it’s popular it that’s a more recent thing. I’d personally use Alexander on the birth cert - and then you have Alec, Al, Sandy, Alexei, Ally, Zander as options in case there are too many Alexs in the class.

I also think Alistair is a great variation

Cheeselog · 30/08/2022 14:34

I think Alex goes better with your surname

babyjellyfish · 30/08/2022 15:31

Alex, but I would put Alexander on the birth certificate.
