Am I crazy? Have pregnancy hormones gone wild? 38 weeks pregnant and suddenly absolutely in love with the name Lennon for a girl. DH thinks I've lost the plot but if she was born this minute, I'd be so tempted! We haven't agreed on a name yet which probably doesn't help. Please tell me if this is acceptable or not (I'm assuming not but I need to check on the off chance anyone likes it 😂). Also I'm foreseeing some Beatles comments, I like them but never been a big fan though DF loved them!

only if they have a twin called McCartney

Rtmhwales · 27/08/2022 19:16

It's become super popular where I live in Canada. There's three alone under the age of 5 I know here between my child's nursery and my friend's children. I'm used to pretty out there names compared to back in the UK but Lennon for a girl made me double take. Plus people call my DS's friend Lemon.

What if people are hearing it, not reading it, and they think it’s Lenin? As in Vladimir

It's a spirited boys name around our neck of the woods, sorry

Ha ha yes it's definitely a "spirited" name 😬

NerdyBird · 27/08/2022 21:13

There's a singer named Lennon Stella who played Maddy in Nashville, she carries it off quite well. I quite like it.

Orphlids · 27/08/2022 21:15

I agree with a PP that Lennox is a beautiful alternative.

dressupinyou · 27/08/2022 21:16

Lennon Stella was in Nashville so it can be a girls name.

John Lennon will of course be the thing every adult thinks of though and as others have said, he was a vile man.

Eixample · 27/08/2022 21:19

I have met a baby girl Lennon so she wouldn’t be the first.
Manon or Mignon if you like the -non ending.

TheLovleyChebbyMcGee · 27/08/2022 21:28

Sorry, Awful!! Also in Scotland its connected to Celtic football club, and then also to religion. Celtic and rangers fandom is deeply rooted in Catholic vs protestant.

What about Lemon, Lumen or Lyra?

Pemba · 27/08/2022 21:44

Lennox, which a couple of pps have suggested, is worse if anything. Also a surname, and very masculine, you think of the boxer Lennox Lewis.

Whataboutitthen · 27/08/2022 21:46

Lennon the bunny

DianaGarageDoors · 27/08/2022 23:49

Bit of a hostage to fortune given that John Lennon’s reputation is slightly crumbling. I quite liked the Lennox idea because it made me think of Annie Lennox, but perhaps more people would get Lennox Lewis.

I came on to say this. She's great.

I think of it as a boys name.

I did, however, come 🤏 this close to naming my dd Leni short for Eleanor. (I am however a Beatles fan).

(My fantasy future daughter would be Penny after Penny Lane).

GlassDeli · 28/08/2022 00:05

Eleanor, Helen, Emma, Lena, Alannah, Manon?

YellowRoad · 28/08/2022 00:06

Eh, no. Especially for a girl. Especially if you're not a Beatles fan.

Pieceofpurplesky · 28/08/2022 00:07

Lainie

JohnsShirt · 28/08/2022 00:10

Don't be ridiculous

maddy68 · 28/08/2022 00:12

I love the name

Suzy14837 · 28/08/2022 00:22

Maybe save it for a middle name

or your next pet

YKND · 28/08/2022 00:26

Bad idea. As are any names associated with one historical individual.

AuntTwacky · 28/08/2022 00:28

No way

I know a boy called Lennon Henrik...

Lennon is not a good name for a girl, OP.

Iflyaway · 28/08/2022 02:02

God no.

Reminds me of that awful Tommy Robinson creep.

John Lennon was great though.

DramaAlpaca · 28/08/2022 02:53

Lennon for a girl? No.

A couple of others have suggested Lennox, it's not my thing but is a good suggestion. I've seen it spelled Lenox too, the girl was from the US.
