Ollie and Ellie

We have a son named Ollie and are expecting a baby girl in December. We have always loved the name Ellie for a girl but are starting to feel they are too similar. What are people's thoughts please? We don't want our kids names to be a talking point. Thanks in advance xx

Yes, they are too similar. Is Ollie short for Oliver? If you have Oliver and Eleanor, that’s fine, but not Ollie and Ellie.

Thanks for your responses. I think the fact we were even questioning it ourselves says a lot. Our son is Oliver but gets Ollie and we would have been naming her Ellie as a full name. We have other names on the list we like so will go with something else. Thanks again xx

I wouldn't do it, even as nicknames. Even if they are actually Oliver and Eleanor etc., if you end up saying "Ollie and Ellie" all the time it just sounds daft.

Too similar. There are so many Ellies already, see names.darkgreener.com/#ellie. The figures don't include all the Ellies who are Eleanor, Elodie, Eloise, Ellen etc on their BC.
