thoughts about this name for a south asian baby girl? I think it’s a lovely, warm sounding name, what comes to your mind?
pronounced Am-baa-lee (like Bali but with “am” at the beginning)

My (born, raised and lived in India until very recently) Indian husband says that ambali is an Indian food, not a name. It's a type of porridge. Very good, apparently. You can easily find it on Google if you don't believe me. Are you Indian or did you find this online? It's also pronounced 'Amber-lee'

That's exactly what I said. Not a name at all.

It's up to you but I don't like it. She will also get the mick taken out of in the playground. Also, Ambala Sweets. It's uncommon. It doesn't roll off thr tongue except if said with the correct pronounciation in Hindi so loses it's appeal imo for a kid whose gonna grow up in the UK.

I don't like it to be honest, I've only ever heard of it used as a surname rather than a first name.
