Thoughts on Amber

I really like it. I've only ever met 1 other Amber and she was great!

I like amber, it made my list as well as ember, I went with hazel in the end though as it was the only one my partner would agree on. X

Hazel is lovely!

Amber has a lovely sound; one of those words that’s just really nice to say. I think it went through a phase in the 80s/90s when it wasn’t seen as very classy, but it seems to have lost that association now. Wouldn’t choose it myself, but I think of it as a ‘nice name’, and stronger than lots of the currently popular über frilly or -ie ending names.

Currently it’s not that common but still top 100 - haven’t met any since I taught one a decade or so ago, but there’ll be an Amber starting in DD’s Reception class this September.

I really like it, it was quite popular a while ago so I know a few older Ambers. It is a lovely sounding name. I also like Ember.

Just a coincidence that the ones I have met over the years (only 3!) are not very nice.

I wonder if others have name/characteristic associations that put them off?
