Really popular names

What is your opinion on super popular names? I'm talking top 10...Olivia, Amelia, Ava, Freya etc.

Some of the only names we can agree on for our baby girl are super popular but I don't know how I feel about that! Just curious to see what others think.

My partner had a popular name growing up and said it never bothered him. I was the only one of my name at primary school and didn't meet another one until secondary - I always wanted to meet another person with the same name as me, weirdly!

To those saying fashionable names of today will be passe in 10-20 years, take a look at the name Olivia, and the family of names where you find Emma, Emily, Emilia, Amelia, and Amelie.

I predict that the next generation of parents will be so tired of these names that they'll fall out of fashion, just as Clare and Sarah did in our generation.

I have a name that no one can pronounce straight away no one’s ever heard of and in primary school from 3-11 no teacher or anyone ever pronounced right

That's unfortunate, but most names outside the top 100 are normal easy to pronounce names. They're just not overused/fashionable.

All one can do is to choose a name one really likes that’s not in the top 20 the previous year.
The rest is up to chance — seemingly something in the air induces parents to favour the same few names all around the country or in your small area of the woods.
Apart from using a bonkers name you just can’t predict the situation.
When my mother chose my name she knew of no others but it was in the top few over the next 2 or 3 years. I knew of others at school but no other in my actual class. I was quite happy as it was a well known name that caused no problems and appeared on pencils and toothbrushes!
