Too similar?

So I have a little boy already - Ronan. We have another on the way and as soon as we found out he was a boy too we've loved the name Rory. So Ronan and Rory.

Now it's getting closer to my due date I'm worrying they are too similar - any thoughts?

I think you might find another siblings Ronan and Rory... both of these names are loved by same people, as I seen.
they are too similar, but I think it's doable to use them.

They are too similar for me. Too matchy-matchy

I don't think Rory is dreadful but I know quite a few people who can't say their Rs, so would rule it out.

They're very nice names individually but could sound a bit twee as a matching pair, it's like two similar names I'd choose between rather than use both IYSWIM.

Sorry what does that acronym at the end stand for? 😂 I swear Mumsnet has more acronyms than most professional bodies!

Personally I think they're a bit close - it's the double R in Rory that tips it for me. Ronan and Rory is a mouthful of Rs in a way that Ronan and Ralph isn't, for example.

I think it’s Ok, fairly similar but not crazily so (that would me Ronan and Roman or Rowan)

Dancinginthedark01 · 09/07/2022 10:48

I think they’re quite hard to say together.

SpaceJamtart · 09/07/2022 10:59

They are both nice names but I can't say them together in my accent.
I wouldn't naturally say the 'd' in the 'and' between their names so it comes out
Ronananrory beacause of all the similar letters

Amdone123 · 09/07/2022 11:06

@eatsleepeatrepeat ,IYSWIM = if you see what I mean.
I like. I don't normally like same initial but in this case it's lovely. My dsis has 2 boys, both same initial and she's never had any issues.
I agree with a pp - Ronan and Rowan or Ronan and Roman, I would say no, but Ronan and Rory is lovely.

Sorry, way too similar. Anyone saying they’re fine together do you have a matchy-matchy name with a sibling? I do, which is why I say don’t do it, OP.
