Cal short for..?

Me and DH really like the name Cal... but a bit too "nickname-y" for a proper name.
Calvin or Calum or Caleb?
Not sure which one is the better full version.. opinions?

I'd say Calum. But dh worked with a guy who was Cal and it was from his second name Callaghan. I think Cal is a great name but am also of the mind of having a "full" name.

Calum or Cailean are both Gaelic names that are often shortened to Cal or Cally.

I like Callum.

I know a Caleb who gets Cal for short. Wasn’t there also a Caleb who got Cal for short on Casualty.

Don't think that's right. I only know 2 Callums, both Scottish. I think both versions are used.

Calvin and Calum/Callum would be the obvious ones.
In Titanic it's short for Caledon.
I also thought of Calhoun.

I think Callum / Calum is a great name. I did teach a few many moons ago ( about 15 years) ; I think it's a great name for all ages.
I was having Callum Patrick til the last minute !

And someone else upthread has said the exact opposite 😂 that Calum is nice but Calvin is awful. To be honest I think they’re both really non-offensive.

I like Cal as a NN for Caleb. Lovely name.

I don't mind Callum either, this spelling but I'm not a fan of Calvin.

Guy at my school was called Calhoun, nickname Cally or Cal

Caleb in East of Eden is known as Cal. Love the name Caleb.
