It's still early days so we don't know the gender but I'm already thinking about names for baby number 2. We have one DD called Rose, I'm interested in hearing what you would name her sibling. On my list are

Ivy
Eve
Nora (keep changing my mind on this one)
Katherine
Rainie (dp not keen)

I'm not a fan of many boys name but the two I like are

Nathan
Kane

Eve sounds best with Rose from your list. Rainie is awful.

I’m not overly keen on Nathan but do like Nathaniel, which would sound nice with Rose.

Kane gives off a very different vibe to Rose.

Are you open to suggestions?

ComfyChairPose · 22/06/2022 20:48

Love Eve, would also like Jane or Beth with rose.

Not keen on Kane. It's ok but doesn't match Rose, although some people think this is stupid, you did ask.

I'd put Hugh, Saul, or Gus with Rose.
Or maybe to keep it floral/horticultural, Rowan

HereComesBaby2 · 22/06/2022 20:49

Of course, any suggestions welcome!

I did think Rainie would be an acquired taste 😁

Eve or Nathan
Or Katherine, if Eve's popularity bothers you.

All lovely, like Rose

Cain is alright if you spell it properly

I like Ivy but you don't want Rose and Ivy, it's twee
I personally think Nora is very drab - I know it's getting popular, but if my sister was called Rose and I was called Nora I would be so pissed
Rainie is appalling! And not a name.

Oona, Anna, Lois, Jane, Beatrice nn Bea, Elsbeth

Caleb, Guy, Joel, Jude, Patrick, Jerome, Laurence nn Laurie

Instead of Rainie, there is an Irish girls name:

Rionach or Riona

Pronounced 'Raina' (as in, wet stuff that falls from the sky with an 'a' sound at the end.) I think it's very pretty.

MissStarry · 22/06/2022 21:29

Rose and Kane could sound like you’re over-excited over trellis if you in the future shout “Rose! Kane!” to call them both.

I like Rose and Phoebe

Rose is such a feminine name that a classic boy name could work alongside such as William, Thomas, Edward, Jonathan, Leo, James, George etc.

HereComesBaby2 · 22/06/2022 21:33

Olive I really like but dp doesn't like it! I personally think Theo sounds like a name for a dog so wouldn't go for that 😳

Matthew has always been a firm favourite but is very popular in our circle

I wish there were more nature themed names for boys that didn't feel so out there

Love Rose! I really like Eve, Norah and Nathan from your list. Ivy is fine, much prefer Iris, but I'd personally avoid another flower name as too themey for me. Hate Rainie and Kane, sorry.

I know Roses with the following siblings:
Ella
Clare
Mary
Elizabeth
Maggie
Kate
Finlay
Noah
Rory
Andrew
Stephen

babyjellyfish · 23/06/2022 09:29

I'd go with another short, classic name with Rose.

Eve
Kate
Emma
Lucy
Clara
Anna
Hazel
Alice
Grace
Lily

Nathan
Hugo
Samuel
Felix
Oscar
Henry
Matthew
James
Ethan

Enko · 23/06/2022 09:33

Of your list > much prefer Raine (was on our short list for ds if he was a girl) however if your dh doesn't like it that's out. If the others I like Nora the best it gies well with Rose I would avoid Ivy. Due to flower connection. I've never much liked Katherine and Eve is way to popular for my liking.

Petal7 · 23/06/2022 09:46

When he was small DS planned to have twins called Jack and Rose Grin

I love Eleanor and Rose together.

Can't think of any boys names other than Rex (thanks Stacey Solomon)
