We just cannot agree on a name. I like names you can get nicknames from - I'm an Elizabeth and always loved having options. Partner isn't as bothered.
What are you opinions?

These are the names we both like -

Ava
Emilia
Esme
Freya
Lilianna
Olivia
Phoebe
Rosanna
Zara

I also like Rosalie and Ottilie but he would never go for them.

(I'm not overly keen on massively popular names so any that are super popular are his idea, haha!)

Tbh I know loads of babies with these names or similar (eg Lily, Rosie etc). So based on not wanting a popular name, I'd choose Phoebe or Zara. I like Zara a lot.

SpaceJamtart · 21/06/2022 18:38

I really like these names

I think Ava, Emilia, and Lilianna are pretty in a very girly way

Freya, Rosanna and Zara are pretty in a strong/powerful way, I like these the most

Not super keen on Esme, Phoebe or Olivia, just cos they seem a bit boring or clunky next to your others

MissyB1 · 21/06/2022 18:48

Hmmm I work in a nursery and most of these names are super popular at the moment. If you are ok with that then fine.

Rosanna and Freya less popular - I like them both.
Can I amke some suggestions based on your choices;
Rhiannon
Alice
Nancy
Millicent
Kathleen or Katherine

cptartapp · 21/06/2022 18:49

Ava - too popular
Emilia - ditto
Esme - wet
Freya - ok
Liliana - too frilly
Olivia - dated
Phoebe - no
Rosanna - this is nice, prefer Rosa
Zara - love it

Natalie, Alicia, Erin, Louisa, Faye, Erica, Esther, Meredith, Catherine.

Summerwetordry · 21/06/2022 18:52

Zara and Rosanna are the best imo.

PrincessPeach22 · 21/06/2022 18:55

i have a little Zara. Gorgeous name x

Mumofgirls2017 · 22/06/2022 08:46

They’re all nice. I probably like Esme and Zara best but they’re probably not the best for nicknames!

FayCarew · 22/06/2022 09:42

Ava - don't like at all
Emilia - too similar to Amelia
Esme - Es-mee or Ez-may?
Freya - overused
Lilianna - will get Lily-Arna, Lily too popular
Olivia - overused
Phoebe - ok
Rosanna - nice
Zara - nice

Fashiontatts · 22/06/2022 09:44

Love Phoebe and Esme out of your list. I also like Zara

halfsiesonapotnoodle · 22/06/2022 09:46

Zara is the best. Others boring/too common. Emilia has ugly mealy sound.

Pennyhill22 · 22/06/2022 09:47

Hannah
Faye
Lara
Nancy
Isla
Matilda
Louisa
Florence
Naomi

Purplenight29 · 22/06/2022 11:15

Zara or Phoebe for me, both beautiful. Esme is ok, the rest are all overused or too similar to overused names (Lily/ Rosie)

Titsflyingsouth · 22/06/2022 22:05

Rosanna is my favourite. pretty and different without being way out there.

Curlyshabtree · 22/06/2022 22:07

How about Lillia instead of Liliana?

sunshineandshowers40 · 22/06/2022 22:09

Phoebe Smile

Glitternails1 · 22/06/2022 23:05

I'm not overly keen on massively popular names so any that are super popular are his idea, haha! @Bellacatt

Those names (except from Zara) are super popular amongst babies and primary school aged dc. Lillian and Rosanna are just longer versions of the hugely popular Lily and Rosie.

GreatCrash · 22/06/2022 23:07

My favourites from this list are Rosanna, Zara and Olivia.

Fivebeanchilli · 22/06/2022 23:18

Ava - lovely. Around here it was super popular around 8 years ago and there are definitely fewer being born now.
Emilia - I love this. And you can easily get Emmy, Milly, Lia or even Mia as nn's
Esme - I'm not keen. You always have the ee or ay question. Plus it's just boring now as there are so many of them
Freya - I like Freya. My 20 year old knew about 8 but I haven't come across any little ones recently so it feels a bit fresh again
Lilianna - I don't like this. I love long names but this feels too fussy and frilly for me
Olivia - I don't like this. It's too popular. I do like Livia but I think it gets confusing for people. How about Lucia?
Phoebe - I understand why people like this but the feeb sound is really off-putting for me. I think of feeble. I much prefer Hebe.
Rosanna - I like this. I prefer Rosalie or Rosalind. But Rosanna is nice and Zanna is a great nn. I knew one at uni.
Zara - nice.

From your list I would definitely pick Emilia.
Rosanna or Ava or Freya would be up there too from that list.

Luredbyapomegranate · 22/06/2022 23:27

Freya - has been very popular but not so much now, it is lovely
Or Zara - also quite nice and not super popular although moving up
Phoebe is alright, but Pheeeeeebs, it's becoming more popular though

Rosanna is lovely but she'll end up Rosie and there are millions of those
Ava, Emilia, Esme, Olivia - all done to death
Lilianna - too fussy, and she'll be called Lily, also done to death

Others -
Flora
Stella
Aphra
Astra
Ida
Oona
Adela
Serena
Francesca
Claudia
Miranda
Luella
Annalisa

shreddednips · 22/06/2022 23:34

All of these are super popular except Rosanna and Zara, both of which I like. Especially Rosanna because of the Toto song Smile

AliBaliBears · 22/06/2022 23:48

I like Ava and Zara best.

Not so keen on Phoebe or Freya. The only one I really dislike is Lilianna, too long and frilly. I think it would inevitably be shortened to Lily.

How about Marianne, Rosalind or Lillian?

Ava - I know far too many.
Emilia - I really like. I think I prefer to Amelia. I like the nn Millie or Emmie.
Esme - I like, but quite popular.
Freya - Pretty.
Lilianna - I love this. Would you pronounce the second syllable as "Anna" or "Arna"? I like both.
Olivia - Pretty but way too popular.
Phoebe - Always been on my shortlist. Love this.
Rosanna - This is my absolute favourite! I live all "Anna" and "Rose" names - Annabelle, Rosabella etc, but love Rosanna!
Zara - Another of my favourites.

I love Rosalie, and also started to really like Ottilie recently!

Others you might like -

Clara
Emmeline
Lilia
Rosalina
Julianna
Marianna
Mariella
