Hi, interested in thoughts/opinions on these three names (and any others you think I might like - I’m not 100% convinced by any of them).

Our surname is double barrelled but both quite common/simple sounding names. Names ending in ‘a’ don’t sound great with it.

I think I like simple, strong, recognisable but not too common names. I also like nature names. Finding it so much harder the second time around and my partner and I have such different taste. These three names are the only maybes we agree on at the moment…

Many thanks!

Iris is my favourite, Joni then Cleo a long way back.
A friend has a Lori and a Hazel.

Joni is best. Then Iris. Then, a long way down, is Cleo.

Thanks all! A real split…Agree about the possible mispronunciation of Joni. And def feel like Iris is on the rise where I live too. I like Robin and Rowan a lot but we have them in the family already. And I love Lois but my partner vetoed it. We’ll keep mulling them over, got a couple of months yet to decide.

I like iris a lot but it seems to be super popular. I like Joni. I like the relaxed feel of it. I quite like Cleo but it's coming up a lot on recent threads. I think they are all nice OP. I am drawn most to Joni today. Might change tomorrow! I liked the suggestion of Lori too further up.

Cleo is gorgeous.

Iris sounds like you're saying Irish but stopped too early.

Joni is try-hard.

Really really love all three. Find it hard to pick a favourite, at a push I might say Iris as have always loved it but really love the other two also

Iris.

Joni and Cleo are less interesting.

noramelon · 22/06/2022 00:15

Love Cleo, but if you're saying that names ending in -a won't work with your surname, there's a possibility that names ending in -o might be tricky as well...?
Joni is one of my faves, and Iris is beautiful as well!
A couple of other names I think would also work:
Opal
Zoë
Fern
Astrid

Of the three, Iris for sure.
