Middle name for Leonora! Thoughts?

Hey, so I posted yesterday asking for thoughts on the names Leonora, Rosalie and Severine for our daughter due in four days. DH and I are about 95% sure we want to go with Leonora but still haven't finalised a middle name...

All the names we liked were fairly long and our surname is 4 syllable so we decided early on that the middle name would be a nice 1 syllable name to offset how long the rest is. These are our picks...

Leonora Kate
Leonora June
Leonora Jean
Leonora Skye
Leonora Belle
Leonora Joy

Any ratings/thoughts would be brilliant! Thanks!

Kate.

I think with Leonora something with a strong consonant works nicely.

I'm a big fan of Leonora Rose ❤️

IrisVersicolor · 17/06/2022 20:52

Leonora Iris

I LOVE Leonora, and the ones that I like best from your list are:

Leonora Kate
Leonora Skye

And Leonora Grace was the other option that immediately sprang to mind.

It’s a gorgeous name!

Fern or Jean

Ikeameatballs · 17/06/2022 22:07

Kate, Jean or June from your list.

I also like Clare and Mary.

Leonora Faith

WeasilyPleased · 17/06/2022 22:14

Jean is so chic. Jeanne is even more so!

I grew up knowing the kindest, most decent, loveliest lady — her name was Leonora Lee “Smith.”

She was just the most pretty and ladylike and wonderful woman — thank you for making me think of her.

When I was little, like 6 or 7, my Nan used to play cards with Leonora’s mum - she must’ve been in her 90’s hahaha and she’d boss my Nan and all the other “girls” around. But she always indulged me and being 80+ years younger than her, that was something.

Leonora and her mum were both just delightful.
I miss them.

Embracing the washing-esque theme, how about Ariel?

Beekindbeehumble · 17/06/2022 22:43

Kate and Joy from your list.

Fern sounds lovely with Leonora.

as Leonora means light, compassion, I like the sound of:
Dawn (first light)
Helen (shining one, bright)
Thea ( goddess of light)

I think it's nice if middle names have some connection but obviously that's personal so I can't suggest any! But I actually like Leonora Severine. Because it has that French connection. If not then of the ones you said Leonora Jean is a bit different?

AWobABobBob · 17/06/2022 23:07

I like Jean from your list. But personally I quite like Quinn.

Please do not go with the generic middle names...Grace, May, Rose etc. Her first name deserves better than that.

RuthW · 17/06/2022 23:09

Actually I like all of your choices of middle names

Ladymartin · 17/06/2022 23:12

Oh gosh it sounds like fabric softener. Please don’t saddle a poor baby with that name!! All the middle names are nice though.

Cetrion · 17/06/2022 23:40

@Beekindbeehumble Dawn is lovely! That's a definite contender!

@Ladymartin Feel like that's a bit of a leap tbh...maybe If I was making her Lenora or Lenore then sure but the way Leonora is pronounced is quite a different sound altogether so that seems like such a reach.

Leonora Skye is lovely.

Leonora Rose
Leonora Paige
Leonora Jay
Leonora Storm
Leonora Faye
Leonora Jade

Luredbyapomegranate · 18/06/2022 01:18

Jane.

Or otherwise June or Jean
skye and belle are pretty naff and Kate better as a nn

Not wanting to rock the boat but I think 2 syllables are better after 4 syllables, eg

Leonora Frances
Leonora Katharine
Leonora Sophie
Leonora Alice

It’ just more balanced

Luredbyapomegranate · 18/06/2022 01:19

Leonora is fabulous BTW. Very underused.

allboysherebutme · 18/06/2022 02:12

Leonora Grace x

islamann · 18/06/2022 08:34

Rose flew into my head as I read your thread title.

Cetrion · 18/06/2022 11:35

I admit that I do love the way Leonora Rose sounds but I do find that I can't get over just how popular it's become recently. I know that in my nieces primary school there are tons of Rose names, especially as part of a hyphenated name. Rosalie was another first name I had considered but ultimately just wouldn't want her being shortened to Rose all the time...

Aaaannnndddd she's decided she's decided she's making an appearance a few days early!

Thanks everyone for the comments and suggestions. A couple of the suggestions are definitely contenders! Hopefully something will hit when I look at her 😁
