Looking to honour a family member and use this name or a name relating to this for the baby girl. Any ideas? I know it's not the most popular name ever! Happy to change it a bit to make it softer but not sure how.

I like Jilly

i love the name Jill. Everyone I have met with Jill or Jillian has always been lovely. I have heard people mispronounce Gillian with a hard G, as in Grape so I prefer the J spelling, more so if it is to honour someone

Jill is a good name. I don't think you need to
soften it at all. Good choice!

Jillian is really common where I live and has been for many years. If it was me, I'd stick with Jill.

@angieloumc Gillian/Jill and Julie were very common when I was at school . Perhaps different in different areas, but for me it's definitely a name associated with those in their 30s and 40s now.

Ah maybe so then, most of the Gillians and Julies I know are mid 40's upwards.
