Walter?

Yes or no?

It's been on the rise since the 90s and even though that rise is slowing it wouldn't be a surprise if it was in the top 200 or 150 in a few years. It's currently around 290th so not popular but by no means unheard of.

Would it be possible to avoid Wally in the same way that Williams avoid Willy?

Walter presents on c4

MeridasMum · 05/05/2022 13:11

I'm another no OP.

I wonder if you're in Scotland with your suggestions of Wattie (either pronounciation). Just think of the glottal stop!!!

DrDetriment · 05/05/2022 13:13

Walter is an awful name. Wat or Watt (pronounced what) is ok as at least you have the historical rebel Wat Tyler as your inspiration, even if he was a bit of a peasant.

Mumofgirls2017 · 05/05/2022 13:14

I really like it, with nn Walt

StrychnineInTheSandwiches · 05/05/2022 13:42

'bit of a peasant'

Grin

If only British people had more respect for those bit of a peasants than the many useless royals they've revered!

Chocolateswissroll · 05/05/2022 15:36

It was my grandads name. He was known as Wal. I wouldn't use it as a first name.

Irishfarmer · 05/05/2022 15:47

I don't like it. Nothing wrong with it through if you do go with it.

17caterpillars1mouse · 05/05/2022 17:35

I want to like it. I love Walt but find Walter very wet

Luredbyapomegranate · 05/05/2022 23:56

It’s alright. I know 2 - one Walter the other Walt

I don’t think you’d get landed with Wally

Starbeach · 07/05/2022 09:17

I love Walter but I don't think it's back enough of me yet

ButterRose · 07/05/2022 09:28

I want to like it but it's just a no from me definite no for Walter if it was just Walt I still don't love it but I don't hate it either

DorritLittle · 07/05/2022 09:33

For the sake of your baby, please don't OP. It may be on the ride in niche trendy London circles but the rest of us can't pull it off yet.

pinklavenders · 07/05/2022 10:10

Maybe the nickname Wattie is an option

That's worse than Wally. And rhymes with Twatty.
