This was originally my fave name for a boy (with the full name as Theodore) and has been for years, but seems super popular recently.

What are your name associations??

Agree with you. It's lovely, but it's absolutely everywhere. Though if it's your favourite you should still use it. I don't get people naming their child something they like less because their favourite is popular.

I don't get people naming their child something they like less because their favourite is popular.

Two reasons:

The child may not like going through life being known as Theo A or Theo B or little Theo or Big Theo. He may prefer a more memorable identitying name. After all, that's the purpose of being named.

A very fashionable name will inevitably fall out of fashion and start to sound dated. Like Kevin for example.
