Alabama???

I’ve been looking around for names and I do prefer what some people would call “weird names”. I’ve come across Alabama, I know a lot of people don’t like place names on Mumsnet but im falling in love with it for a little girl. Travis barker named his daughter Alabama years ago and I think that’s how the name came into the mainstream. I do also like other state/city names like Memphis (which would be for a boy) For a girl there’s also Georgia which is obviously a state but that is more of a classic old name that has been used for decades as appose to a “trendy name” like Alabama. I also adore the nickname “Bama” I would just like to hear peoples thoughts as I don’t know how a name like this would work in England because people here tend to stick to old fashioned names like Lily, Elsie etc? Middle name will be rayne

India as a posh girl name in England always seems tone deaf to me.

Have you practiced standing on a porch letting the screen door slam behind you and hollering “Alabama Rayne, you know you’ve got to wear what the Dairy Queen done give you” as her boyfriend’s pick up truck disappears in a cloud of red dust?

I really don't like it. The U.K. version of Alabama would probably be St, Helen's. I personally don't have any feelings either way about either place but StHelens has a reputation for inbreeding , poverty and people of low IQ. Alabama is known for this and much much worse. It's taken until THIS YEAR for them to remove a KKK leaders name from the university of Alabamas building for gods sake. The KKK used to hang black men from trees and torch their bodies. why would you want your kids to have that association?

OP, it's not really my style, but it's equally not the worst name I've ever heard, so go for it!
