Hi I'd be so grateful if you could give me your thoughts on the following names to help me whittle my list down a little:

Grace
Mia
Charlotte
Alice
Sophia

Thank you xx

Grace - cute but popular
Mia - ok, my thoughts on it are skewed by a cat!
Charlotte - classic
Alice - classic
Sophia - too frilly for me, I prefer Sophie
It's between Alice and Charlotte for me.

h0tXberns · 11/04/2022 13:14

All nice. All very popular, some might say too overused.

DogsAndGin · 11/04/2022 13:17

Grace - was common on the council estate when I grew up
Mia - see above!
Charlotte - my fave from your list
Alice - very nice
Sophia - Sophie is nice. I associate Sophia with maybe a Spanish or Italian child

Amdone123 · 11/04/2022 13:20

I love Grace and Charlotte.
I don't like Mia. Never liked Alice and I prefer Sophie to Sophia.

Bellyups · 11/04/2022 13:21

Grace - beautiful
Mia - over done
Charlotte - lovely
Alice - don’t like
Sophia - don’t like

FelicityPike · 11/04/2022 13:21

They’re all fine names.
Not overly keen on Mia compared to your other choices.

FayCarew · 11/04/2022 13:22

Grace - won't suit a graceless child, a bit too popular.
Mia - meh. Sounds like mere. Overused
Charlotte - nice but safe. Don't like Charlie for a girl
Alice - nice but popular
Sophia - I know far to any to not see it as dull

housemaus · 11/04/2022 14:27

Grace - fine, but very, very popular especially as a middle name, every second little girl I know is a Something Grace

Mia - not keen, is seen as a bit tacky where I live

Charlotte - nice name, but less keen on Charlie/Lottie as the inevitable nicknames

Alice - LOVE Alice, think it's due a comeback. Feminine but not frilly, classic, easy to spell

Sophia - not a huge fan, not sure why. I think maybe cos I'm common as muck and it feels like a Posh Girl name!

Alice is my favourite Grin

Shmithecat2 · 11/04/2022 14:29

Charlotte if I had to pick, but not keen on any of them tbh.

CrossyRoad · 11/04/2022 14:41

The others are nice, I really love Sophia.

babydays123 · 11/04/2022 14:44

My favourite is Alice from this list.

I've just had my last child yesterday and he was a boy.

My girls names were Penelope and Harriet which I don't mind saying in public now as I won't get to use them now. Was hard enough to get hubby to agree to take little one 😆

Alwayspaintyournails · 11/04/2022 14:46

Grace - there are three in DD’s class and 11 that I can count in her primary school.
Mia - dated.
Charlotte - classic and beautiful - 0 in DDs school.
Alice - classic and beautiful - I only know one under 18 with this name.
Sophia - lovey but fairly common in our area.

TheDaydreamBelievers · 11/04/2022 14:46

All nice, all very popular.

Grace - favourite
Mia
Charlotte - least favourite
Alice
Sophia

ChiefWiggumsBoy · 11/04/2022 16:48

I like them all. Alice is my least favourite, it's a bit prissy. But I don't dislike it.

I'm never going to understand the whole 'overused' thing. Unless OP is planning of having three daughters and calling them all Mia, why does it matter?

SunshiningBoo · 11/04/2022 17:12

Sophia is my favourite and I like Grace too.

IStandWithMaya · 11/04/2022 17:21

I love all of your names. My order would be:

  1. Sophia

2. Charlotte
3. Mia
4. Alice
5. Grace

But I actually like them all. Smile
GoodSoup · 11/04/2022 20:16

Sophia if I had to choose.

Bored of Grace, it’s everywhere. Same with Mia. I know a lot of Charlottes, although mainly older ones.

TempsPerdu · 11/04/2022 23:09

To be honest I find all of them except for Alice pretty dull and bland.

Alice is saved I think by the fact that it’s genuinely timeless (as opposed to eg Mia, which is overdone and already slightly dated), and has plenty of good literary and historical namesakes. So that would definitely be my choice.

Mumofgirls2017 · 12/04/2022 07:19

All nice if a bit boring. My favourite is Alice. Least favourite Grace.
