List is as follows:

Lauren
Caitlin
Lyla
Evelyn
Olivia
Iris
Clara
Leah

Surname is long and ends in -ee sound so those names Emily/Sophie/Amy etc are out as too samey.

Any other suggestions welcome

My favourites on your list are Lauren and Clara.

Some of the others have nicknames that end in the ie sound eg Evie for Evelyn. Does that bother you?

WaltzedIntoIt · 01/04/2022 11:48

@Rainbowqueeen we won’t be using nicknames ourselves and they’re not used in the wider family so I’m ok with that - if friends decide on a nickname down the line they wouldn’t be using surname with it so I think it’s fine. But equally they might not. My name is similar to Katherine in length and it’s never been shortened by anyone.

I have an Iris so maybe biased but I love that name. We have also considered Clara

HellToTheNope · 01/04/2022 11:53

Farrah
Vivienne
Jacqueline
Leia

The4ks · 01/04/2022 11:54

All lovely with the exception of Caitlin which I'm not keen on!
Lauren's a classic that i love but my favourite is Iris.

WaltzedIntoIt · 01/04/2022 12:00

I love Iris but part of me worries in this covid era - Iris = Virus 🦠 and if it’s an easy target to pick on at school.

She was never called Virus or teased for her name. Iris = Virus never even crossed my mind
yorkshireteaspoonie · 01/04/2022 12:04

They are all lovely options 👌🏽

moofolk · 01/04/2022 12:07

Caitlin

Notwithittoday · 01/04/2022 12:08

Lauren - boring but ok
Caitlin - something harsh sounding about this
Lyla - I wouldn’t pick a name starting with ‘ly’ like ‘lie’
Evelyn - very old ladyish but pretty
Olivia - pretty but may be a bit too popular
Iris - old ladyish and not pretty
Clara- quite nice
Leah - also quite nice

I would probably choose Evelyn of those

Amdone123 · 01/04/2022 12:12

I love Evelyn, Olivia, Clara and Iris.
I quite like Lauren ; it's a tad dated, but could be due a comeback. I prefer the classic Laura. Caitlyn is a great name
I'm not keen on Leah personally but it's a lovely name.

KylieCharlene · 01/04/2022 12:13

Leah definitely.
Suits all ages and it's not as popular as names like Olivia or Iris.
It suits all ages.

Justkeeppedaling · 01/04/2022 12:15

Lauren - done to death
Caitlin - not keen
Lyla - not keen
Evelyn - not keen
Olivia - done to death
Iris - lovely
Clara - really lovely
Leah - not keen

LittleBird4 · 01/04/2022 12:17

ButterRose · 01/04/2022 12:50

Your list in my preference order

Iris
Evelyn
Leah
Lyla
Clara
Olivia
Caitlin
Lauren

But in saying that I don't not like any of your names they're all very nice

AdaColeman · 01/04/2022 12:59

My favourites are Leah and Clara.
I also like Caitlin.

Olivia is already hugely popular.

You might like Lydia, Corinna or Melissa?

My least favourite is Lyla.

DotDotDotDotDot · 01/04/2022 14:36

Favourites are Iris and Clara.
Evelyn and Leah are ok.
Least favourites are Olivia, Lauren, Caitlin and Lyla due to being overused or dated.

MisguidedSheep · 01/04/2022 14:48

Several of your names may have pronunciation issues - fine if you don't mind correct people though.

*Lauren - nice name, not many of them about, prefer Laura though
*Caitlyn - I'd pronounce this Cat-Lyn, not Kate-Lyn. I like the name
*Lyla - like this, it works well with Iris
*Evelyn - how are you saying this? Ever-Lyn (is how I'd say it) but you'll get Ev-Lyn and Eve-Lyn. Prefer Evangeline or Emmeline to Evelyn
*Olivia - overdone. I like the shortening Liv though.
*Iris - lovely - my second favourite of your names. Could also consider, Violet
*Clara - my favourite - classic and timeless even though it can be Clar-a (my favourite pronunciation) or Clare-a
*Leah - pronunciation issues again....is it Lay-ah or Lee-ah

Others to consider:
Vivienne
Genevieve
Sorrel
Meriel
Edith (nn Edie)
Imogen

MerryMarigold · 01/04/2022 14:51

Iris to virus is a stretch!

I like Evelyn best, then Clara and Leah.

How about Kristin or Kirsten? Erica?

Grumpasaurusrex · 01/04/2022 15:09

Lauren - dislike, dated
Caitlin - dislike, dated
Lyla - dislike
Evelyn - dislike
Olivia - pretty but done to death
Iris - beautiful
Clara - lovely but very popular
Leah - nice but boring

I'd choose Iris for sure, followed by Clara.

Grumpasaurusrex · 01/04/2022 15:11

Names in a similar style:
Lucy, Harriet (Hattie), Rosa, Sylvie, Lydia, Annie/Anna, Edith (Edie)

FayCarew · 01/04/2022 15:24

Lauren - dislike it. Dated
Caitlin - ok, was a lot more popular
Lyla - don't like it. Lots of similar names around. Samey
Evelyn - don't like it. Lots of girls called Evelyn, Eva, Evie and Ava around
Olivia - too popular for too long
Iris - ok
Clara - don't like it
Leah - ok

17caterpillars1mouse · 01/04/2022 15:25

I really like Leah

Milarosex · 01/04/2022 15:39

Lauren - nice but boring, and pretty dated
Caitlin - I really like it
Lyla - It’s ok. I think I prefer the spelling Lila and it’s getting very popular
Evelyn - very pretty, but also very popular if that bothers you. Everly is also nice. How are you pronouncing this? I would say ever-lyn.
Olivia - I’ve always liked this name, but it’s always been super popular
Iris - quite nice
Clara - I like it but it’s also really popular
Leah - nice but boring
