I knew one at school but haven't heard it in years.
What do you think?¹ I love it but not sure if the name works today.

I much prefer it flipped...Marianne.

The Samuel whiskers story is Anna Maria!

Irish here and know lots of Anne-Maries- lovely name. Anna-Marie is confusing - just go with Anne-Marie (or Anna-Maria). Anne-Marie is French and Anna-Maria is German (and other languages too I think) so better not to mix them up.

Fwiw I don’t think either name has any of the modern associations with double barrelled names - both are classics and actually sound fresh now.

I really like the name Anna, like Marie too.

Have you considered one as first name, one as second name so she has the option of using Anna Marie or just Anna if she prefers later in life.

My cousins called Anna-Marie I always thought it was nice
Irish too

Use Anna or Marie. Double barrelled names look silly.
