I adore this name. We heard one when our daughter was about 5 months old and I was gutted we hadn't thought of it first.

Popularity however, im sure I've seen its in the top X names 2022 so may well become a lot more popular than unusual

WaitinginVain · 19/03/2022 21:29

I've never heard of it before but it's lovely.

Doveyouknow · 19/03/2022 21:36

I know one who is 6yrs old.

ISmellBurnings · 19/03/2022 21:46

Vauxhall Nova. I really don’t like it.

DramaAlpaca · 19/03/2022 21:49

My first thought is the car.

Then the Spanish for 'doesn't go'.

It's a shame as on paper it's an attractive name.

BikiniB0tt0m · 19/03/2022 21:50

It just will always just make me think of a Vauxhall Nova 90's/00's car, that the boy racers drove while listening to their banging tunes

TheAbbotOfUnreason · 19/03/2022 21:53

If you had twins they could be Nova and Chevette.

PeachesInTheOffice · 19/03/2022 21:53

Love it!, Classy and a bit unique. Beautiful name. Lovely meaning.

NellWilsonsWhiteHair · 19/03/2022 21:53

I like it. I know a 3yo, an 8yo and one in her forties.

WeasilyPleased · 19/03/2022 22:14

Not my cup of tea. There's a 5ish yr old Nova on our road. I know because it's bellowed most days.

tearinghairout · 19/03/2022 22:25

I only know one - an annoying snooty woman in her late 60s.

KloppsTeeth · 20/03/2022 00:34

Do not use if your surname is Caine.

AuntTwacky · 20/03/2022 01:01

Middle name Scotia?

I think there was a list of this years girl baby names this week and this was top 10?

So not unusual now…

Ah no 23. But still, not unusual

IbizaToTheNorfolkBroads · 20/03/2022 06:28

@lucie82

I know of a Nova, she's 6, her sisters are called aurora and I can't for the life of me think of the other one.
I’d the third sister Sienna?
Crunchymum · 20/03/2022 09:03

I know 3 Shock

Older primary, you get primary and preschool age. All in same school too.

Crunchymum · 20/03/2022 09:03

you get = younger.

toastofthetown · 20/03/2022 09:18

While I personally don't know any (though I know pretty few babies and children) it's it's in the top 150 and still rising sharply. Personally that's the kind of name I'd avoid based on popularity. Nova is painfully trendy to me (like Wren or Ottilie) and has a higher risk of dating body than something without such a precipitous rise (and almost inevitable fall) in popularity.

KirstenBlest · 20/03/2022 12:58

One in her 70s.

It was a 1980s car

Desert76 · 20/03/2022 13:04

It makes me think of Planet of the Apes, but I might be misremembering.
I don’t know any personally.

Gowithme · 20/03/2022 13:18

Doesn't go was my first thought - I think they had to call the Vauxhall Nova something else in Spain because of it.
I'd be worried it could be the next Chardonnay.

tiredanddangerous · 20/03/2022 13:47

My first thought was Vauxhall. My dad had one.

fufulina · 20/03/2022 13:52

I know one male Nova, 13.

Fantail999 · 20/03/2022 13:53

I know one late 30s/40s. Hipster. Dyes her hair bright colours (pink, blue etc). Its Super Nova.
