How boring are Chloe, Megan and Sarah?

Just wondering. These are the three names I love that were super common in the 90s.

What do you think of them? What kind of image do they give you? And are they really that boring?

I'd call them very 70's!

Gonnagetgoing · 14/03/2022 18:37

Not boring but quite common.

I don’t know that many little girls but girls with those names are more in 30s/40s.
My then best friend was a Sarah and always wanted to name her DD this but called her Amy.

Frogsonglue · 14/03/2022 18:39

Love them all.

FourTeaFallOut · 14/03/2022 18:42

I like them all too. I like Sarah and Chloe better than Megan but they are all strong, unfussy names.

AHungryCaterpillar · 14/03/2022 18:44

Hate Sarah just think of it as common and overused

Soubriquet · 14/03/2022 18:46

I like Megan.

Chloe is returning in popularity and I’ve never been keen on Sarah

FourTeaFallOut · 14/03/2022 18:46

Overused by whom, when was the last baby Sarah that you met?

sweetbellyhigh · 14/03/2022 18:47

Sarah is a classic and beautiful name.

Anotherdayanotherdollar · 14/03/2022 18:49

Sarah is lovely

AHungryCaterpillar · 14/03/2022 18:49

@FourTeaFallOut

Overused by whom, when was the last baby Sarah that you met?
If that’s at me then yes in the past it was very overused in the 80s/90s making it dated now, I would think of a Sarah being in her 30s fine if dated is what you’re after
TheSillyMastiff · 14/03/2022 18:51

I know so many Sarah's it's common in my age bracket. But one thing I realised is a) it's always a professional name, like people just get it, know it and can say it without problem. B) even though it's "common" it still always comes across as a lovely name. C) it has a regal nature to it meaning Princess without being obvious, and I've always liked it's subtle connection to this.

I think I envy it's classic, simple and easy going nature as a name. Also never met a nasty Sarah 🤣 they all seem so lovely and compliment the name.

Chloe I think is also a lovely name, pretty, petite and simple. Megan, being Welsh many of them around, also a pretty a name with simple elegance.

As you can see though I do like Sarah more 🤣 wish my mother had called me Sarah! Haha.

Kim82 · 14/03/2022 18:57

I love the name Megan (I have one, she is 14), also love Sarah and almost used it for my 7 year old. I have a strong dislike for the name Chloe, I can’t think of a particular reason why I don’t like it, it’s just not for me at all.

MyNameIsAlexDrake · 14/03/2022 19:00

@ImAvingOops

I'm a Sarah. If I block out how overused it was for women of my age, I actually really like the sound of it. But it has completely failed in its primary purpose of identifying me at school from other children, since there were always a couple of us in each year group! I've even been landed with Louise as a middle name and I can tell you that with no fear of being outed, such is it's overuse Grin But for a baby being named now, I think it's a nice name. Chloe and Megan are also pretty. For me, the truly terrible names are the ones which are hyphenated with May or Rose and the old lady revival names (Lilly etc).
Haha, me too. And we're both obviously fans of Life On Mars / Ashes to Ashes!
Busybeetle · 14/03/2022 19:07

I like Megan, lovely name. Sarah is so boring. Chloe is quite nice but I do think it has a bit of a dated 90s feel to it. I'd go with Megan. Would Sara or maybe Zara be an option?

ChazzaGirl · 14/03/2022 19:09

Chloe is a lovely name, as is Sarah. I’m not keen on Megan, especially if shortened to Meg.

DramaAlpaca · 14/03/2022 19:09

Sarah's lovely, such an underused classic these days.

I'm not keen on the other two.

AHungryCaterpillar · 14/03/2022 19:10

Yes I guess I find it boring as it was so overused now it seems boring so although it’s unusual probably to hear a baby Sarah it’s a boring name, Zara is lovely but the shop puts me off 😏

ImAvingOops · 14/03/2022 19:10

Nice to meet a fellow fan of Life on Mars/Ashes to Ashes, MyNameIsAlexDrake

Andacherryonthetop · 14/03/2022 19:15

Megan isn’t dated where I live (wales). Chloe is more dated and although I don’t know any little Sarah’s I feel like it’s more of a classic name as opposed to a dated name. I probably like it the most of the 3

ouch321 · 14/03/2022 19:19

Sarah is my fave name.

Chloe is lovely

Megan I'd avoid now due to the royal connection

Snowbell999 · 14/03/2022 19:24

Yes, maybe. I really like them, though. Maybe as middle names?

Hyenaormeercat · 14/03/2022 20:55

Very 1980s/90s although Sarah is pretty common for all ages.
The girls I knew with those names-
Chloe- nice but dim
Megan- Bright- musical- teachers favourite
Sarah- narcissistic, stab you in the back
I may be projecting a tad..🤣

DogsAndGin · 15/03/2022 21:02

I love them all - especially Sarah which is understated, elegant and classy

Dawnofthefed · 15/03/2022 21:05

I like Sarah. I don't like Chloe.

Baaaa · 15/03/2022 21:13

Love them all. Good names and not too frilly.
