Having twins :) boy and girl. I really love the name Jimmy for a boy, but struggling to find girls names to go with it! I loved Rosie for the girl but very aware they then become Rosie and Jim 😅

No, you cannot have Rosie & Jim.

Is his going tobe James on his birth cert, or Jimmy?

Anything that ends in Y /ie is going to sound sing song-y

Needs a name with a blunt end

Ruth, Jane , Hannah, Sarah, Scarlet,
Or similar, to not sound matchy- unless youwantto sound matchy of course.

Jemima?

James (Jimmy) and Katherine (Kate, Katie)

Crunchymum · 14/03/2022 13:39

I think Jimmy goes well with and -er or -a name?

Jimmy and Amber
Jimmy and Bella
Jimmy and Freya
Jimmy and Isla
Jimmy and Zara

To have Jimmy and Jemima as suggested by posters above would not be a good idea either - they are both versions of the same name.

Jimmy is short and quite 'crisp' sounding. Possibly also not a good idea to have same initial letter or matching 'ee' ending. So what about Rita, Greta, Clara, Anna, Susan (pretty name that needs reviving), Margot, Emma, Frances, Tessa, Ruth, Iris, Diana, Flora, and names with a similar vibe.

If you were expecting a DD and already had a DS, what would you call her?

Think of them as individuals. They'll be The Twins a lot of the time
I would avoid a name with the same initial or that sounded too similar.

I’ve got a Jim! My girls list was:

Katherine/Kitty/Kate
Scarlett
Rosa/Rosie (but probably not with Jim)
Martha
Ruby (but I’d go Jim and Ruby, rather than Jimmy)
Esme
Evelyn/Evie

TBH I prefer Jim and a -y girls name than Jimmy and —-

Jim and Poppy
Jim and Emily

WeasilyPleased · 15/03/2022 22:01

Jimmy and Dinah
Jimmy and Alice
Jimmy and Carys
Jimmy and Lois
Jimmy and Zena

To have Jimmy and Jemima as suggested by posters above would not be a good idea either - they are both versions of the same name.

I wouldn't give twins, or indeed any siblings, the same initial, but Jimmy (assuming it's from James) is not etymologically the same name as Jemima.

My first thought for the girl's name was May. I kind of don't want it to be another name with a -y or -ie sound on the end, they sound a bit too matchy to my ears.

James comes from the Hebrew name Jacob, and means “supplanter.”

Jemima as a girl's name is of Hebrew origin meaning "dove".

Ignore the posters saying James on birth cert - you don't have to

KylieCharlene · 16/03/2022 16:28

I second Jeanette.
Very pretty.

Wrinklepicker · 16/03/2022 17:21

Mine hates having James on his BC. He has literally never been called James in his life. The only people who use it are doctors who don;t know better and he always corrects them. It seems as odd to call him James as it would to call him Freddie.

If you want to call him Jimmy on his BC, I would (in hindsight!)

2022babyhope · 16/03/2022 20:36

Thanks everyone :) it'll be Jimmy on the birth certificate.
