Too unusual?

Hi all,
I have recently taken a liking to unusual baby names. My family don't take the same view as me so I was just wondering about the thoughts on the names: Meadow, Alabama & Noelle?
I know they're unusual but I can't stand seeing the same baby names used over and over, want to have something more unique but not sure if I've gone too far 🙈

OP posts:

Meadow is pretty & the imagery that goes with it is nice.
Suki Is sweet & will be seen as more typical due to 'Suki put the kettle on' nursery rhyme.
Noelle is fine.

GoldenFondue · 03/03/2022 07:10

If you like Quentin Tarantino do you like the name Abernathy? I always remember that name from Death Proof.

Mumofgirls2017 · 03/03/2022 07:35

Meadow is brave but I like it. Not keen on the others

Olga03 · 03/03/2022 08:10

Suki is a beautiful name in my opinion. Not keen on the others, sorry.

Meadow, Alabama & Noelle

Meadow is awful and could sound comical with some surnames
Alabama - try Virginia, Carolina or Georgia instead
Noelle - ok, a bit too christmassy

Luredbyapomegranate · 03/03/2022 12:14

Alabama and Meadow - you’ve gone too far Grin

Nothing wrong with Noelle but you’d expect it to be a Christmas baby.

There are LOTS of unusual names, you do not need to name your daughter after a random geographical location you have likely never been to

delshell · 03/03/2022 12:15

Noelle is a lovely Christmas/winter baby name.

I don't like Alabama at all, sorry. Meadow doesn't sound like a real name to me.

FayCarew · 03/03/2022 12:16

Melody - not too bad but Elodie is popula
Evora - looks like a product name
Suki - I know a few, all of asian heritage

Luredbyapomegranate · 03/03/2022 12:16

Sukey is fine, but ideally as a short form of Susannah / Shoshanna to give her options

Melody is OK, but she’ll end up Mel which is dull

Evora - she’ll end up one of a million Evies so that’s not for you

Kanaloa · 03/03/2022 12:54

Well yes if it’s short for Susannah then it’s just a nickname. But Suki as a full name (which I presume is what op meant as she didn’t mention the name Susannah) I would expect to be Japanese. Personally I wouldn’t use it as a full name for that reason.

FlamingoDust · 03/03/2022 20:30

Meadow, Melody and Suki are lovely. I can't decide if I like Noelle. I don't like Alabama I think it's just to 'a' heavy to my ears!

PersephonePomegranate · 03/03/2022 22:16

They're all good except Alabama!

What about Autumn?

Snoopsnoggysnog · 03/03/2022 22:29

I love Meadow. I know what a PP means about Meadow Soprano but I love the name and how it looks written down.

Alabama is ridiculous

Noelle makes me think of Teenage Dirtbag. Her name was Noelle, I had a dream about her, she rings my bell…

Gardeningcreature · 03/03/2022 22:34

I don't like Alabama either.
Not a fan of Meadow as it sounds too wishy washy for me. I prefer Suki.

maeveiscurious · 03/03/2022 22:53

Love nature names Meadow, Brooke, Hazel, Iris and Heather are all lovely

Leeloo1233 · 04/03/2022 20:28

I love Meadow! It was on our list too. So pretty!

SemperIdem · 04/03/2022 22:49

Can you seriously even think “Alabama” without the song being in your head?

Jellybean23 · 04/03/2022 22:58

Yes to Noelle, Meadow isn't great, Alabama is cruel.

Marty13 · 05/03/2022 01:39

I'd vote for Noelle. And I agree it doesn't need to be a winter baby. My nephew is called Noel and he was born in july (and one of his parents is French !)

FayCarew · 05/03/2022 13:48

Noelle could be used but she'd run the risk of everyone thinking she was yuletide baby

celestebellman · 05/03/2022 14:59

Meadow - ok, makes me think of Meadow Soprano, slight hippy vibe.

Noelle - ok, refreshing, actual name

Alabama - terrible

golddustwomen · 05/03/2022 15:05

I love the name Alabama, true romance Grin

whysoserious123 · 05/03/2022 15:18

Love meadow. Noelle isn't one of my favourites and no way to Alabama

But names like meadow- fern, river, peaches ( if your brave enough) , willow etc

whysoserious123 · 05/03/2022 15:19

@moll14

Thanks guys! The only thing with Alabama that I really loved was that I'm a Quentin Tarantino fan and one of his characters is called Alabama. I'm also a fan of Melody, Evora and Suki. I agree Noelle would have to be a winter baby I think!
Evora Is beautiful
ThisBloodyNoiseInMyHead · 05/03/2022 15:23

Meadow is very nice, but not Alabama
