What are your thoughts on ...

Araminta

for a baby girl? Yay or nay?

OP posts:
Are your children’s vaccines up to date?

I love it- but depends on your social group. If you are around a lot of exclusive public school types probably grand. If you are in a council estate in a deprived area not so much.

Dogzndiamonds · 26/02/2022 22:02

I can't help but think Aramunter...🙈

Luredbyapomegranate · 26/02/2022 22:03

Too fussy for me. But it’s probably about to go big once there are too many Arabellas and Aurelias.

Alonelonelylonersbadidea · 26/02/2022 22:05

It's lovely.
Decidedly posh but that's probably better than chavtastiic. I'd use it in a heartbeat.

Classica · 27/02/2022 01:37

Also reminds me of Moondial, which I loved.

Not hugely keen on the name tho.

Cindie943811A · 27/02/2022 01:41

I love it. It hasn’t been used enough to be properly categorised as posh - I mean how many women do you know called Araminta, let al one posh ones?

Zillamop · 27/02/2022 01:47

I quite like it

RuthW · 27/02/2022 09:43

Lovely

CourgetteSeason · 27/02/2022 09:46

No. There is an awful character in the Bridgerton books called Araminta. Sorry.

MinglingFlamingo · 27/02/2022 10:08

I really like it

BeefSupreme · 27/02/2022 10:49

It was on my girls' names list. Go for it.

BeefSupreme · 27/02/2022 10:51

Harriet Tubman's birth name was Araminta so it's not just an English upper class name.

Hummingbirdcake · 27/02/2022 10:52

Nope.

WowIlikereallyhateyou · 27/02/2022 10:53

Love it.

MajorCarolDanvers · 27/02/2022 10:54

Awful sorry. Really over the top.

SometimesRavenSometimesParrot · 27/02/2022 10:57

I like it, and the nickname minty but where I’m from minty is slang for dirty so it’s a no from me

demoness · 27/02/2022 11:59

I don't like it, personally. But it's fine for somebody else's child. I can see it becoming more widely used because of the popularity of Aria and Arabella.

KirstenBlest · 27/02/2022 12:35

It's ok but a bit long. Will be Minty

cheapskatemum · 27/02/2022 14:48

I love it & nn could be Ari, rather than Minty. I'm reminded of Ari Up of The Slits

ThatsNotMyGolem · 27/02/2022 15:12

It's the sort of name you vow to name your daughter after watching Moondial age 9.

babynamelover · 27/02/2022 19:02

Bit fussy but offers lots of nn potential 🙂

Rockmehardplace · 27/02/2022 19:32

Way too twee, posh and flouncy for me and Minty is dreadful.

Firesidefox · 27/02/2022 19:36

bit twee

SuperSocks · 27/02/2022 19:41

I wouldn't use it but it's a pretty cool name!

RaininSummer · 27/02/2022 19:43

Pretty dreadful. It puts me in mind of a posh little Violet Elizabeth Bott type on a thelwell pony. Sorry.
