I changed my son's name and happy about it

After my son was born, really struggled with the 'perfect' name. His dad liked all the potential names and said I should chose (men!) So did I, my family had a favourite and I went with it, but never warmed 100% up with calling him this name. And soon after my son was registered, I felt like his middle name suits him perfectly as his first name. Didn't chose it first place because it's one of the boys names which never left the top100. But now it doesn't bother me at all anymore and I couldn't be happier that I changed my son's nameSmile Furthermore I kept his old first name as a middle name, because I still love this name, but not as his first name. Overall it did cost £40, including two birth certificates. I'm very happy and thought I'd share my story because so many mums on here are posting that they aren't sure about their child's name🤗
I don't want to promote name change, had a friend who picked up her daughter's name months before birth and shortly before she had second thoughts. But eventually she gave her daughter the name she picked before, also because it was one of the few names she and her partner could agree on.
Also my friends and family were really supportive when I told them about the name change, except my grandmother, but her reason was on us spending extra money on it - which was worth it 😃

What a lovely story . So glad you are pleased with your decision!

Ah lovely! How old was he when you changed his name?

Glad it worked out for you. So did you swap the order of the names - changed the first and middle order? How old did you do it? Just wondering as thinking of swapping the order of my sons name also as he’s been known by his middle name since birth.

Yes, I swapped his first and middle name. I did it today and he's currently eleven months old. It's an easy process until they are one year old (at least from what I read online). But we started calling him by his new first name around the time he was one month old.

Good for you.

People worry far too much about changing their minds (in general, not just baby names.)

.. I am all for changing it if you want. But I know a few people known by middle names so I don’t think it’s essential in this case.

I also changed my daughters as such on the bc.
My mother had a strong view she should have a longer name and known as shorter however from the min she was born we always knew she was going to be the shorter name.
The shorter name wasn’t a obvious diminutive of the longer name and it just didn’t feel right when I had to say she known as all the time. After 3 months I decided to make her known as name official. No regrets here either other than wishing we got it right to begin with and not influenced by others opinions.
