I love Ruth, I think it's simple and elegant and yes, due a comeback.

Olive I dislike, too trendy and I'm just not keen on the sound.

Juniper is also very trendy but I like the sound of it so it doesn't bother me.

blameitonthecaffeine · 12/02/2022 01:19

I really like Juniper, although I agree it's very trendy.

Ruth, I quite like. Unusual now but a classic name.

Olive is one of very few names I really strongly dislike. Which is sad because I have a baby relative with the name. Hoping it will grow on me now.

DramaAlpaca · 12/02/2022 01:34

I adore Olive, which is funny as I used to hate it.

Ruth is fine, an underused classic but not a very exciting one.

Juniper is a bit try hard.

Luredbyapomegranate · 12/02/2022 01:45

Ruth - like a dog yapping
Juniper - sweet, but I really think it’s a pet’s name
Olive - only in a salad

Got anything else?

alexdgr8 · 12/02/2022 02:55

not juniper or olive. i don't like names of trees for people.
ruth is ok-ish.
but most of the ones i've come across tend to be rather severe; maybe because it was very popular with strict protestants recently.
but guess it's due for a revival, and refreshed by new more diverse users.

PinkSyCo · 12/02/2022 02:56

Awful. All of them. Sorry.

EishetChayil · 12/02/2022 10:07

Ruth is gorgeous. My DD was nearly a Ruth.

Olive is disgusting.

Juniper is ok but the "nipper" element puts me off.

MrsSkylerWhite · 12/02/2022 10:08

I’m off an age where I can remember a character called Olive in a really nasty “comedy” programme.

That would put me right off.

KirstenBlest · 12/02/2022 13:56

Ruth. It's a good classic name that suits any age girl or woman. Ruthie is a cute nn.

Juniper seems a bit nicknamey but is ok

Olive - frumpy and not as nice as Olivia, and there are way too many Olivias

octoberfarm · 12/02/2022 14:51

Love Juniper (nn Juno?) and Olive Smile

LouisRenault · 12/02/2022 15:00

Ruth. Simple and classic. Ruth Blackett is the first Ruth I think of.

I don't like Olive, and Juniper is too trendy.

Chakraleaf · 12/02/2022 15:16

My cats called Juniper

334bu · 12/02/2022 15:27

Love Ruth. Olive reminds me of Olive Oyl Popeye's girlfriend and I really don't like Juniper.

2orangey · 12/02/2022 15:50

OP you have chosen some 'marmite' names there!

Ruth - my middle name. Growing up I really disliked it (old fashioned, religious, boring). I like it more now. It does have a certain dignity as PP said. Just a traditional, sensible name, maybe refreshing when there are so many flowery, fanciful names about.

Juniper - flowery and fanciful. Not my cup of tea.

Olive - I love this! So cute on a little girl and still suitable for an adult woman.

girafferafferaffe · 12/02/2022 15:57

I work with a Ruth and she's the nicest person I've ever met. We call her Ru or Ruru or Ruey. The name has been brightened by her for me that is for sure.

Nowmum43 · 12/02/2022 15:57

I have an Olive. I never understand the hate for it on here. Everyone of all ages in real life comments to her what a great name it is!
That includes young girls who have named dolls after her, teenagers who say it's a cool name and adults.

So I'd definitely say go with Olive Grin

UsernameIsHarderThanBabyName · 12/02/2022 16:25

Really like Ruth. Not keen on the others x

Horse9 · 12/02/2022 18:32

@Nowmum43
I don’t understand it either !! I suppose it is marmite ! I love it !

Olive is adorable.

Personally, I like Ruth find it a refreshing change from all the princessy girls names out there - Isabella, Arabella, Seraphina etc.

Not sold on Juniper tbh.

pucelleauxblanchesmains · 12/02/2022 18:46

Ruth is great (not biased, noooo)

CambsAlways · 12/02/2022 21:36

Don’t like any sorry

InexperiencedDogOwner · 13/02/2022 15:49

I've liked Juniper since reading What Katy Did when I was younger. Ditto Clover. I think it was that book anyway!!
