Robyn or Felicity?

Can I get some thoughts?

We have a new baby girl, and are stuck between these two names.

We both love Felicity, but is it a bit long? We like the full name more than we like the nicknames. Is it too much of a mouthful?

Robyn is sweet - but is it too common?

What do you think? Thanks Smile

Love both, and like nn Fliss or Flick (one 40yr old adult I know). My goddaughter now 18 is Robyn but since senior school has been known as Bobbie which you might like to bare in mind. I like it but her mum wasn't so pleased but is now used to it!

I absolutely love the name Robyn.

Felicity. The meaning is so lovely as well as the sound.

I really like Felicity.

Bear in mind that if you're not overly keen on nicknames/shortening, your daughter's friends, and indeed your daughter herself, may well have other ideas.

My parents chose a very short name for my brother, partly because they didn't want nicknames, and his mates called him by a shortened version of his surname instead! They all still call him this decades later. I remember one of his mates phoning and asking for him by his nickname and my mum genuinely thought they had the wrong number!

Felicity, it’s nice and I don’t ever hear it. Not a fan of Robyn at all.

Robyn by a country mile. Very strong, timeless name and not at all common.

MrsTimRiggins · 06/02/2022 11:57

Felicity definitely, it’s so beautiful. I don’t like Robyn, altho that’s based on the fact I’ve never known a nice one so obviously I am somewhat biased.

Not a fan of Felicity.

I went to university with a Felicity that was always known as Flick and I was jealous as it was a cool name and she was really cool as well

Robyn

I’ve never liked felicity. Too fussy and twee. And the nicknames not great

Robyn is modern and cool.
