Any thoughts?
My best friends little brother was called this and I've loved it since I was little. My husband is yet to be convinced.
Middle name would be Cameron as that's a family tradition.

Shacklebolt
Just makes me think of the Harry Potter character.
I think it's quite a big name to carry off.

Luredbyapomegranate · 30/01/2022 19:44

It’s.. alright, in a portly older guy sort of way - but Kingsley Cameron is a bit much - I think he needs one conventional name so if Kingsley is too marmite he can switch.

cherrytopcake · 30/01/2022 19:46

Avoid. He won't thank you for it.

cherrytopcake · 30/01/2022 19:46

@NewtoHolland

Good to hear a range of views...is it naf because it's try hard?? Or because of inbetweeners?? It's so hard because my association is just this lovely little toddler who we both adored! It's hard to break the love for it 😂
It's sounds try hard. Sorry op.
sweepthenmop · 30/01/2022 19:47

I don't like it either, sorry. Cameron is lovely though

scrivette · 30/01/2022 19:55

I like it, I have known one who would be in his late 40's now and DSS has a friend in his 20's called it too.

campion · 30/01/2022 20:08

Go with Cameron. He'll thank you for it.

BusterGonad · 30/01/2022 20:16

I like it. I have no negative associations with it.

NewtoHolland · 30/01/2022 21:33

Interesting that it's quite so marmitey and for like both ends of the scale, chavvy and yet also old man like and too big etc.
I just really love it but don't think my OH will be convinced so the baby will likely be safe from it if he is a boy.
Thanks though it's good to be prepared for theShock Confused Hmm faces if we do go for it in a way and to understand the possible objections.

Also too surnamey for me and I’m surprised how many people saying they know one…

NewtoHolland · 30/01/2022 22:46

The only comment that truely shocks me as the one as it being as bad as Pugsley!!
I wonder if anyone on MN has a child with that name!?

@JessicaJacket

I knew a little Kingsley in Edinburgh years ago. He would be in his twenties now. I can't say I love the name, but it's fine.

I used to work with a Prince and he was one of the most beautiful people I've ever seen irl, so it absolutely worked on him. Otherwise, I'd find the regal element of it a bit risky, if he turns out to be a laid back, scruffy surfer type for example

I read that as "I used to work with Prince," and thought you lucky cow! Grin
JessicaJacket · 30/01/2022 22:53

Grin ha @littleburn! Sadly not. This guy had similar eyes though .

Ikeameatballs · 30/01/2022 22:58

It’s ok but I agree with those who have said that with Cameron as a middle name you’ll effectively have three surname type names in a row. I also think how it sounds could really depend on the surname.

GoudaVonCrumb · 30/01/2022 23:05

I love the name Cameron!

unfortunately where I live, Kingsley seems to have the 'chavvy connotations' mentioned by a PP.

MyDarlingWhatIfYouFly · 30/01/2022 23:17

The old rugby captain of my home team and his dad both have the name "Kingsley". I love it, but as it's so marmite I wouldn't use it, personally.

Liv999 · 31/01/2022 17:08

I quite like it, it's different but in a good way

Amisilli · 31/01/2022 17:16

Love it!

CrochetBug · 31/01/2022 17:20

I love it. Love it love it. I had a friend called Kingsley. Sadly he died last week so it's now a sad name for me. Sad

QuentininQuarantino · 31/01/2022 17:25

I know a woman called Kingsley so it feels feminine to me!

RuthW · 31/01/2022 17:28

It's a no from me as it's an area near where I live.

EllieBellend · 31/01/2022 20:39

He's the Reading football mascot, a huge lion in a striped strip!

BeKind2022 · 31/01/2022 20:42

I know a young girl called Kingsley. Am not a fan of it especially for a girl.

purplecorkheart · 31/01/2022 20:42

Sorry I think of Harry Potter or a Business Hotel I have stayed in a few times.
