Help! A girls name after 3 boys…

Honey2 · 29/01/2022 20:33

I always thought it would be easy to name a little girl after having to come up with 3 boys names. But I’m really struggling!

This is my short list -

Imogen
Heidi
Esme
Amber
Anya

Not very short! Any thoughts? Don’t want something likely to be really common.

Thanks xx

I really like Amber.

itsgettingweird · 29/01/2022 20:48

I like them all.

But Imogen or Heidi for me from your list.

I also like Phoebe and Matilda.

Honey2 · 29/01/2022 20:49

@itsgettingweird ahhh I think they are my top 2! Do you have a preference?

Imogen! So many girls names end in an ee or uh sound that I prefer those which don't.

OnlyFoolsnMothers · 29/01/2022 20:51

Amber and Esme for me
Never liked Heidi
Imogen is quite popular
Anya is a little harsh sounding for me

Other ideas:
Amara
Maya

IamnotwhouthinkIam · 29/01/2022 20:52

Imogen is lovely and has an elegant Shakespearean feel - but is quite popular (as is pretty Esme).

International Anya is beautiful though and not overused.

Amber is okay (don't love or hate), but Heidi is not my taste, sorry (I don't know why but I find it a bit cutesy sounding).

Other similar suggestions - May, Lara, Nina, Cora, Sylvie.

I like your list my dd is Imogen so that’s my favourite, she’s 15 now but it was popular for about 5 years after her birth. I work in a school and for the first time in 5 years there isn’t an Imogen in ks2.
I also like Heidi and Anya from your list.

DisforDarkChocolate · 29/01/2022 20:59

I like them all. Imogen is probably my favourite, I've heard Esme is very popular.

Honey2 · 29/01/2022 20:59

@IggyAce thanks - looking in naming site Imogen seemed to peak in 2010 and then fall. I don’t mind a few in the same school - just not 2 in every class! I think it’s my fav so far.

@IamnotwhouthinkIam thanks for your comments, we are actually thinking it May, Mae or Rae for the middle name.

I really like the name Imogen

GreeboIsMySpiritAnimal · 29/01/2022 21:01

Oh I love Imogen. If I'd had a second girl, she'd have been Imogen Hope.

TheVanguardSix · 29/01/2022 21:09

Imogen is my favourite on your list. It's a beautiful name.

I also likea the names Jemima, Tabitha, Samantha, Annika, Tallulah

Comedycook · 29/01/2022 21:12

I really like them all... except Imogen which I really dislike...such a frumpy, ugly name

SallyWD · 29/01/2022 21:14

I love Imogen and Amber. Always disliked Heidi for some reason.

WanJames · 29/01/2022 21:15

Amber
Anya
Esme…in that order, I personally don’t like the other 2

AdaColeman · 29/01/2022 21:18

Imogen and Heidi are my favourites, both are lovely names.
I like Amber too.
But not keen on Esme or Anya.

WeasilyPleased · 29/01/2022 22:10

Of your list, I like Amber best.

platerspinner · 29/01/2022 22:16

Definitely Imogen it's lovely. What are your boys names to give an idea of how they'd all go together

Mumofgirls2017 · 29/01/2022 22:16

I like Heidi best; esme and Anya are ok. I think Amber is a bit dated and Imogen I’ve never been able to get on board with but lots think it’s lovely

Honey2 · 30/01/2022 06:49

@platerspinner my boys are Alex, Isaac and Ruben….

Imogen is a lovely name. I also like Lydia, Claudia, Grace, Lottie, Clara, Florence, Eva, Hannah x

Tootbeep · 30/01/2022 13:03

Imogen - love, but not keen on Imo, Immy, Ginny etc.
Heidi - bit twee, cute for a little girl, ot great for a woman. See also: Daisy
Esme - pretty, but a bit overdone and possible pronunciation issues.
Amber - like, but has a slightly dated feel to it, a bit like Hazel.
Anya - ok, nicer than Anna

Tootbeep · 30/01/2022 13:04
  • Sorry, not Hazel, Heather
