Baby not arriving for another 10ish weeks so not a major issue. But he will need a name eventually. Been on and off trying to pick a name for months. I must have heard or read every name in the world by now and don't have a pull to any. Even the names that I don't mind but can't use I'm starting to think I only like because I can't use them. Is it that uncommon to just say "that will do" ?

Are you struggling to find one you like? Or find one that you and the father agree on?

I'm the same, nothing I love despite months of searching. Started doubting the names of my older kids even 😂 it must be a mind set of unachievable perfection but when I read some kids names I know that any I choose from our list would be better 😂 however nothing has met that holy grail. I was wondering if it's linked to it being difficult to actually believe that there will be a baby at the end of this?
Partner loves a few and has been waiting for me to settle on one, which I have.
It's a name I've liked in the past too and I'm trying to make it stick to baby in my mind.
I settled on Aurelia Josephine Lucille.

I have this with girls’ names. There are names I think “will do” but nothing that I love. I love my son’s name so would really like to love my daughter’s name too. DH is useless with names, he won’t discuss them until I’m at least 35 weeks 😂 super helpful.

We didn't pick my daughters name until I was a week overdue and heard someone call their kid in the supermarket. It'll come. Eventually.

I think babies fit a name . Nothing wrong in waiting to see what they look like and then deciding.

I feel you OP. Except I did love 1 name that DH didn't and vice versa.

DP didn't like all my favourite girls names and likewise I didn't like his choices (not that there were many). So we have settled on a name we both like but I don't think either of us love. It's a shame but I can't force him to have one of my choices and visa versa. At least we do both like the name we have chosen.

We were like this with our youngest, we had sort of picked a name but we didn't love it. When he was born, that name definitely didn't suit him.
We went !through the names book and one we had never considered just seemed the right name.
I would wait and see if when he's here if one in particular seems to suit him.

If you really can't decide/ have no particular name you really love, then I always suggest going classic - according to the ONS historical tables there are 11 boys names that have never left the top 100 since the 1900's so they won't date or ever invite any assumptions on his age or background. Many are also outside the top 20 now too and some like Alexander, Edward, James, William etc also have a good few nn choices to boot if he doesn't like the full name for any reason.

We had this! It wasn't that we didn't like any individually, but we had no crossover. We put together a short list and waited until he was born. Then he didn't look like any of them and we started all over again!

We just went for one that we thought would do. It satisfied our criteria but I didn’t feel like it was right. She’s 1 now and I still have that feeling but as she grows it’s more and more “her”.
