Nicknames for 'Leanne'

My name is 'Leanne' and I really dislike it. I would love to change it, but my mother loves it and I know it would really upset her. I'm in my 20s.

I'm wondering if there are any nicknames I could take on for it instead? I used to have the nickname 'Lee' which I don't like because it sounds quite masculine. I've also sometimes been called 'Leanna' which I much prefer, and would love to change my name to 'Leanna' instead but it seems like a lot of faff just to change one letter

Any ideas?

PS I don't know why you couldn't informally encourage people to call you Leanna if you prefer that..

I have a Leanna. I think it’s such a pretty name but she hates it so we all call her Leanne, or some of her friends affectionately call her Lee Lee but never just Lee funnily enough.

Leah, Lena, Anna

My daughter is named Leanne and has when younger been called “Elle” by her friends and family.

Has no one ever naturally nick-named it before? It would be quite odd to pluck a nickname out of the ether. Has no one ever called you anything else before? Because nicknames tend to be bestowed by others

I would say Lee, is your best bet, it's more of a natural shortening for your name.

Ancientdreams · 10/01/2022 08:10

Leah is lovely.

UserBot989 · 10/01/2022 08:13

Leah but spelled Lea is the most obvious I think.

Leanne is pretty but Leah is far more classic so I think that is your best bet. Leanne was over used for a while but it could be far worse!

I know someone who has a little girl called Leanne. Think it's coming back in fashion

Kokeshi123 · 10/01/2022 12:51

Change it to Leanna and tell your mum that people kept getting confused and saying "Leanna" by mistake so you decided to go with it (to avoid hurting her feelings).

SeanChailleach · 10/01/2022 22:13

Just go for Leanna. Trust yourself, and just do it. Introduce yourself as Leanna, sign yourself Leanna. Get Leanna printed on a tee shirt or engraved on a necklace, a coffee mug, whatever. You don't need to change the official spelling.

Can you do anything with your initials, maybe?
LJ or LC (Elsie) or whatever?

I like Leanne, makes me think of a friendly smiley woman 😊 Imagine the threads on here in twenty years time, seen some god awful names!

Changethetoner · 10/01/2022 22:24
