I like Romy and I like Niamh, but not the spelling Neeve.

I don't mind Maya, but would pronounce it the same way as Maya Jama does. So based on that you might want to think about how your child's name is perceived by people who see it written before they're introduced.

Your other choices don't float my boat to be honest.

Emmy's OK as a shortening for Emma, Emily, Emmeline. Not keen on any of the others.

SilverGlitterBaubles · 08/01/2022 21:38

All sound good to me Smile

teaandtoastwithmarmite · 08/01/2022 22:15

I prefer Emma to Emmy. Emmy is my cat's name though

teaandtoastwithmarmite · 08/01/2022 22:16

I like the others except for Neeve. Prefer Niamh

EishetChayil · 08/01/2022 22:16

Emmy - lovely, but I'd name her Emmeline or Emily and have Emmy as a nickname
Reva - reminds me of Oscar pistorius' girlfriend whom he killed Confused
Maya (May-a pronunciation) - not a fan
Summer - lovely
Romy - I just hear "roamy". Not a fan.
Neeve - Niamh?

Jemimapuddleduk · 08/01/2022 22:17

Emmy- like but prefer Emmeline as full name
Reva- like
Maya (May-a pronunciation)- like
Summer- like
Romy - not keen
Neeve- prefer Neve, like this

Snowiscold · 08/01/2022 22:18

Emmy - not as a name itself.
Reva - ok
Maya (May-a pronunciation) - ok
Summer - ok
Romy - fine
Neeve - it’s spelled Niamh.

Luredbyapomegranate · 08/01/2022 22:37

Emmy - nice as a nn for Emmeline/Emily/Emilia/Emma/Emerald - but too babyish to be a full name
Reva - sounds made up and nothingy (sorry) - also just makes me think of the woman killed by her boyfriend Oscar Pistorius
Maya (May-a pronunciation) - nice - but way overused, also people seem to usually say My-ah)
Summer - it’s ok, but I think it will date fast
Romy - it’s Ok.
Neeve - it’s spelt Niamh, it’s quite nice

I’d probably go for Emmy as a nn for something.

Hairyfriend · 08/01/2022 22:48

Emmy- Sounds like a nn. refer Emma, Emmaline, Emilia/Amelia or Emily
Reva- Hate. I too think of Oscar Pistorius g/friend or a bad country and western singer
Maya (May-a pronunciation)- reminds me of Mayans but not horrid
Summer- love
Romy- not keen. I always think of roomy for some reason
Neeve- reminds me nevus, which is a skin discolouration

BadlydoneHelen · 08/01/2022 22:50

Boris Johnson just named his baby Romy if that bothers you

Lacedwithgrace · 08/01/2022 22:54

Maya will not be pronounced may-a
Romy was lovely before boris
Neeve is not how you spell it

MysteriousMonkey · 08/01/2022 23:06

Niamh is lovely. Neeve just looks really odd. Neve is better is you have to but I'd just go with Niamh.

Mumofgirls2017 · 09/01/2022 04:12

I love Summer although think it could soon become dated. Also like Romy but more as a nickname for Romilly/ Ramona/ Rosemary or something.

None of the others to my taste really and I’m not keen on names you have to keep correcting people on or explaining pronounciation!

Rainbowqueeen · 09/01/2022 04:21

I like Maya the best

TedsaidFred · 09/01/2022 08:56

I would absolutely pronounce Maya May-a, it's beautiful. I also like Reva. Reeva Steenkamp will not be on the radar of your child's peers and I think once a person with a name is killed their name cannot be removed for life from naming options. Lots of people still call their babies Oscar and he was the murderer.

limitlessval · 09/01/2022 09:55

Maya and Romy are so pretty

seasunshine22 · 09/01/2022 16:51

Thanks everyone for your feedback

Emmy - nice. Personally I prefer it as a nn for Emmeline or Emma. But it's nice.
Reva - is it Ree-va, Ray-va or Rev-a? I don't think I like the look of it to be honest but it's ok
Maya (May-a pronunciation) - I'm a Mya pronunciation person so this would put me off. I do love it though!
Summer - don't like it at all
Romy - it's ok
Neeve - I like Niamh but this spelling isn't nice. Sorry. Neve is nicer.

Bluebluemoon · 09/01/2022 17:31

Summer is the only one I like as the others are already too popular.

What about Skylar? I love that name and have only ever come across one.

CMhater · 09/01/2022 17:36

The fact you needed to tell us how you are pronouncing Maya says it all really! I'd cross it off the list. Too much trouble and a lifetime of your DD having to tell people how to say her name.
Neeve- spelling is an issue. A lifetime of correcting people who spell it wrong or people asking how you spell it.
Reeva- OK.
Romy- Awful. No particular reason just so many nicer (imo) names out there. Also think it will date badly.
Summer- not to my taste. It's also my least favourite season so am pleased I'm not a Summer personally.
Emmy- Ok but I think it needs to be a nn so Emmeline on b.c.

CeeceeBloomingdale · 09/01/2022 17:40

Emmy - only if it's short for something
Reva - Don't like this
Maya (May-a pronunciation) Ok, a bit 2005
Summer - ok assuming she's summer born
Romy - Romily is nice, Romy is not
Neeve - Niamh is nice, this spelling is awful

17caterpillars1mouse · 09/01/2022 17:41

Emmy - I like it but only as a NN. Love Emmeline
Reva - not a fan but I like Reya which is similar

Maya (May-a pronunciation) - not a fan
Summer - I like it
Romy - not a fan
Neeve - like but not this spelling. Niamh

KineticSand · 09/01/2022 18:02

Emmy- ok if a shortening/ nickname but not as full name on birth certificate
Reva- OK.
Maya (May-a pronunciation)- lifetime of people asking how to pronounce/ saying it wrongly
Summer- OK
Romy- dislike
Neeve- nice name but needs the proper spelling

Justkeeppedaling · 09/01/2022 18:04

I only like Romy off those, though I prefer Romilly, nn Romy.
