Just wondered what thoughts there were on Liberty as a name

OP posts:
Are your children’s vaccines up to date?

I also think liberty bodice (but you have to be a certain age).

MondeoFan · 05/01/2022 20:15

I like it think there was someone on love island with the name

NotTheOriginalFeargalSharkey · 05/01/2022 20:44

I do like it.
But.. I always imagine a cross parent yelling "liberty, come here ' ' liberty, go to your room" liberty, do as I say.

And LB in the film June (I think) was cute.
Liberty-belle?

Luredbyapomegranate · 05/01/2022 20:51

It’s Ok. Quite 90s, I think of it in the same group as Lauren and Shannon.

3peassuit · 05/01/2022 20:54

It’s a bit too 1960s hippy for me.

M4857493 · 05/01/2022 21:05

It sounds like a made up stripper name to me like Destiny, Trinity etc.

bangwhistle · 05/01/2022 21:17

I have a Liberty, she's ended up having the nn Bertie rather than Libby as we assumed. I love it.

bangwhistle · 05/01/2022 21:21

Also, I think the name's origins are Quaker? I was looking for a strongish, possibly slightly arty girls name and kind of had Liberty the shop/Liberty Ross in mind. My Liberty is nearly 7 so predates Love Island!

inheritancetrack · 05/01/2022 21:42

It's the new pup's name in paw patrol. I need to get out more.

Luckingfovely · 05/01/2022 21:52

I think it's lovely!

Undertheoldlindentree · 05/01/2022 22:01

Quite like it. There are worse shops to be named after.

Notajogger · 05/01/2022 22:06

Feels too American for me.

Figgygal · 05/01/2022 22:07

Not a fan reminds me of liberty the annoying paw patrol dog from the pp movie

HandsyChatters · 05/01/2022 22:21

Yes. Three girls had babies when I was in high school in the nineties, two of the babies were named Liberty.
Pineapples9087 · 05/01/2022 23:05

Reminds me of paw patrol. But it is a lovely name

Blubells · 06/01/2022 08:13

Feels American like Destiny, Trinity etc

MadeOfStarStuff · 06/01/2022 18:24

I adore Libby but prefer it short for Elizabeth or even on its own than Liberty

PattyPan · 06/01/2022 21:32

I think it's Liz Truss's daughter's name. Really weird choice imo, too political.

timoteigirl · 06/01/2022 22:01

I love this name - my favourite of this type of names, and don't understand why it is not more common. I would rather think of Quakers than America.

TheHoptimist · 07/01/2022 05:31

Sounds like the name of a sanitary towel (because it is)

felulageller · 07/01/2022 05:44

What about Verity instead?

KirstenBlest · 07/01/2022 08:13

Verity is much nicer

becca3210 · 07/01/2022 08:20

I like Libby but not Liberty

Ceramide · 07/01/2022 08:43

Liberty is quite nice but I don't like Libby, which feels quite prim and hard-edged.
