Rosemary
Beautiful name

BobbieMeserole · 05/01/2022 17:49

I love Rosemarie. I hear Rosemary a lot, Rosemarie is not as common. Both pretty though...

StrawberryFever · 05/01/2022 17:50

I prefer Rosemary.

I'd say them differently too, Rosemary (emphasis only on the Rose) vs Rose-Marie (emphasis on the Rose and the -ie)

toastofthetown · 05/01/2022 17:50

I love Rosemary. I don’t like the Rosemarie spelling, and I’d be unsure if to pronounce it Rose-Marie, rather than Rosemary.

SummaLuvin · 05/01/2022 18:39

Rosemary.

I like it, slight old lady vibes but in a nice way like Ivy. Ensure you like obvious nn of Rose, Rosie, and Mary. Makes me think of Rosemary Schrager who I think is a lovely woman.

ofwarren · 05/01/2022 19:04

I prefer Rosemary. I've never heard it the other way though.

DramaAlpaca · 05/01/2022 19:24

They are pronounced quite differently.

Rosemary has the stress on Rose, Rosemarie has the stress on Marie.

I much prefer Rosemary, with the diminutive Romy.

Freddiesmyboy · 05/01/2022 19:39

Rosemary is my name I have hated it all my life and will only be know as rose. However I prefer rose Mary rather than Rosemarie which is how most people pronounce it.

NannyR · 05/01/2022 19:44

I prefer Rosemary, I like that it's a plant/nature name. Rosemarie has a very different vibe to me, sort of middle-aged country singer. I would pronounce them slightly differently too.

ILoveShula · 05/01/2022 20:33

Rosemary

Stokey · 05/01/2022 20:35

Great Lenny Kravitz song! Definitely Rosemary

MeatyRvita · 05/01/2022 20:46

Rosemary
I personally don't like the way Rosemarie is pronounced with the emphasis on the ‘Marie’ section

FeedMeSantiago · 05/01/2022 20:55

I've always pronounced them both the same way, Rose-Marie, like the herb. But I've heard people pronounce the Mary part of Rosemary like the name Mary, rather than as Marie.

I like the Rose-Marie pronunciation but prefer the Rosemary spelling.

It's a nice name.

Luredbyapomegranate · 05/01/2022 21:09

Rosemary is lovely

Rosemarie I’d assume was from Knoxville and onto her third husband, she has a heart of gold and a fondness for vodka in her iced tea.

SeanChailleach · 05/01/2022 22:10

It's a very pretty name but without fail every one I ever met is the sort of kaftan wearing hippy, drinking chamomile tea and offering me vegan chocolate cake. Some kind of nominative determinism or parenting styles or something.

newfriend05 · 06/01/2022 03:28

Just makes me think oh the horror film

HeadlessGummyBears · 08/01/2022 04:06

Rosemary is lovely.

flyingant · 08/01/2022 04:59

I've no idea why, but I read Rosemary with the emphasis on Rose and Rosemarie with the emphasis on Marie, as though it's 2 separate names, like Rose-Marie...if that makes any difference?

RuthW · 08/01/2022 10:28

Love it and it was my first choice for dd. Exdh said no.

MrsT84 · 08/01/2022 10:47

We will probably have Rosemary as our number 2s middle name, after hubbys nan's name. We are still deciding what to have for a first name. It's a lovely name x

TeddyTonks · 08/01/2022 10:49

Rosemary- lovely
Rosemarie- looks like a spelling mistake to my eye, though totally accept this could be my ignorance

SageRosemary · 08/01/2022 10:51

Rosemary is perfect!

WakeUpLockie · 08/01/2022 10:52

I would pronounce them differently too. Rosemarie sounds lovely, haven’t heard it before. Another alternative is Rosemara.

DoodleBelle · 08/01/2022 10:53

Rosemary spelling is better

NewYearEveryYear · 08/01/2022 10:54

DD is Rosemary. It's a good name. We shorten it to Rose and Romi. We've never had any negative feedback about it, and don't know any other Rosemarys her age (reception age).
