Leni or possibly Lennie.

groovergirl · 05/01/2022 00:24

Depends on your ethnicity and preference. My Greek friend Helen is Leni to her family. A Croatian- descent friend, Magdalena, calls herself Lenny.

What would your Lennie/Leni/Lenni be short for? Helen, Helena, Eleanor, Leonora? Leopoldine? Smile That might help you decide, or you could let baby decide when she's older and learning to write.

Kanaloa · 05/01/2022 00:26

I would probably go for Leni as I think it looks the most like a ‘name.’ I also used to look after a little girl named Eleni so maybe that’s why?

DramaAlpaca · 05/01/2022 00:26

Leni

MrsMoastyToasty · 05/01/2022 00:29

O wouldn't use it for a girl as I already know a little boy called Lenny.

Ceramide · 05/01/2022 01:50

Lenni

MrsDrSpencerReid · 05/01/2022 01:52

Leni

Welldarn · 05/01/2022 01:53

Just call her Lena, with Lenni as a nickname.

Ceramide · 05/01/2022 08:07

I would pronounce Leni as Lay-nee and Lenni as Lenn-ee

WyncyG · 05/01/2022 08:48

My childhood bestie is a Leni. I won't say what the long version is as she's the only person who comes up when you google it Grin and I always felt it was 'spelt wrong' for how they said it, but for instance you might think about adding a -ta sound at the end.
She wears the unique name thing very well and very rarely got laughed at for having a man's name, however it did happen sometimes. I think it's really pretty though Smile

schnubbins · 05/01/2022 08:48

Leni

Skeumorph · 05/01/2022 09:11

Hmm tough, I don’t like it hugely but Leni looks the nicest but I think some people would see it as Lay-nee

Letitsnoooow · 05/01/2022 09:12

Leni

I'm showing my age now, but I remember a character in Neighbours from the late 1980s called Charlene who had the nn Lennie.
I've also heard it short for Eleanor. I quite like it.

SapphosRock · 05/01/2022 11:38

Leni

hollie29x · 05/01/2022 12:03

I'd pronounce Lennie and Leni very differently. The latter has a long e sound.

NannyR · 05/01/2022 13:02

I would go for Lenni, I'm never quite sure whether Leni should be pronounced Lenni, leeni or layni.

Blubells · 05/01/2022 13:58

I agree - Lennie is unambiguous!

Luredbyapomegranate · 05/01/2022 21:00

Lennie

I really think you should call her Leonora, Leonie or some version of Elena as a full name though. She may not thank you for Lennie on her birth cert

londongirl2701 · 05/01/2022 22:46

Leni

I love this name for a girl x
