Scarlett or Skye...or both?

Dd3 due in April. Do you prefer Scarlett or Skye? Wondering if we could have both - Scarlett, but nickname Skye...that would be great!
Her middle name is likely to be Eleanor and she has sisters called Rosie and Poppy.
Think I'm starting to go name search blind 🤪 Thanks

Scarlett Skye is a lovely name! Use both, Skye as the middle name

Ginger1982 · 03/01/2022 09:57

Skye is not a much and for Scarlett, that's just silly. I would go for Scarlett.

Ginger1982 · 03/01/2022 09:57

*not a nickname

Oh...I think having two 'S' names is a lot! Too alliterative! Like Sidney Snake, or Harry Hamster 😱 It would literally sound like someone was saying that the sky was red 🤦‍♀️

Scarlett

Buddhabowl · 03/01/2022 16:04

I love both and I find it odd that other posters say they don't go with Rosie and Poppy. I think they go perfectly.
My preference is probably Skye as Scarlett has the nickname Scar which isn't great. I don't like Skye as a nickname for Scarlett, just seems odd, like you couldn't decide.

scottishnames · 03/01/2022 16:16

This is not a criticism, and it might not matter, but the place name Skye means either 'the island with lots of 'wings' (= peninsulas and headlands)' or 'the cloudy isle'.

@Nikki305

I like Scarlett and think you could get away with Skye as a nickname
Exactly this.
Hopitihop · 03/01/2022 21:21

Scarlett !

Skye reminds me of the sky with an e in the end, a bit made up and not a proper name.

Good luck x

ilovemykids5 · 04/01/2022 20:08

How about Skylar

danascully96 · 04/01/2022 20:42

Scarlett sounds like a ravishing beauty to me, while Skye sounds more bohemian. If it were me, I'd choose Scarlett. A lot of people complain about the opening "Scar' syllable, but it doesn't bother me much. Scarlet red foxes in the winter are a lovely image, so I've always been drawn to the name.

Violet is a similar-sounding name if you're interested? There's also Sylvia/Sylvie!

IamnotwhouthinkIam · 04/01/2022 21:41

Ooh, Sylvie would be gorgeous imo. Same "ee" ending as her sisters and a subtle nature link too like Rosie and Poppy (Sylvie means "from the woods/forest") without being quite as obvious a link as Skye and Scarlett (although I do like Skye too).

I've not read the whole thread but what about Summer?

HoliHormonalTigerlilly · 05/01/2022 17:09

Love Scarlett!

felulageller · 07/01/2022 05:49

Skye is nicer but I like both
Or Skyler
